Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was forced to leave a Seattle, Washington rally without speaking after protesters claiming to represent the Black Lives Matter movement stormed the stage and took the microphone from the Democratic presidential hopeful.

"If you do not listen to us, your event will be shut down," one activist told the senator.

Do you think this might actually backfire?

A Seattle speech by Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was pre-empted in a chaotic confrontation Saturday afternoon with a handful of Black Lives Matter protesters...

“I was going to tell Bernie how racist this city is, filled with its progressives, but you did it for me,” accusing the audience of “white supremacist liberalism...

In a news release posted on social media, local Black Lives Matter activists said they were holding Sanders and other white progressives accountable for failing to support their movement.

Citing the anniversary of Brown’s death, they said, “We honor black lives by doing the unthinkable, the unapologetic, and the unrespectable.”

White supremacist liberals?

Who knew?

at some point we will chastize the vocal min oroty extremist elements and stop being so polite to them. they had no right to threaten him like that. Even when they had thr stage, the speech was hollow with no direction.

When will that happen? Beats me. I feel like we are in the tempest at the moment. Tea party is now the core of republican beliefs. 3 fringe BLM activists can shut down a presidential frontrunner and send him home with his tail between his leg.

Of all people...bernie should not have to be belittled and accused of being ignorant of race relations. Tell them to sit down, listen, or leave.

This is our own creation. It all really went downhill after that guy shouted "LIAR!" at the president during a formal address.
Weve normalized acting like idiots. Must be why we love trump so much
........

I blame the internet 😉

The Black Lives Matter movement will end up embarrassing itself as these things normally do, with the members booing comments like "White lives matter too," and defending convenience store robber Michael Brown and attempted murderer Saint Trayvon Martin.

It would be nice to see the black community stop blaming whitey and accept some personal responsibility for the self-inflicted root causes of their social and economic ills things such as babies having babies, drug addiction, and bad parentage, etc.

Lol! That was funny, good one😉

I don't think Bernie's team could have handled it any better.

Yeah I have to give him props.. sometimes it's hard to just say nothing and walk away.

He didn't come out of it with any more negativity, if anything people will be sympathetic.

Yeah and he's been fighting for civil rights since the 60's (50's?).

Conspiracies begin!
Either this was a setup by republicans? Black republicans?
Or the Hillary campaign?
Or the CIA, NSA, or... Donald Trump?

Anywho... this whole thing stinks to high heaven like a setup and something is very out of whack here.
The anger and the acts do not justify the means.
An odd one indeed....

Someone one, some thing, fears Sanders successfully making real headway.
I mean, you have the republicans doing MUCH MORE and with no humility what so ever against the very same group(s), and yet NOT ONE of the same protest occurs?
Republicans suppress the minority vote, the courts shoot down minority civil rights, and the republican controlled congress DOES NOTHING to full the gap.
YET...YET... Not one protest. Not one rally. From not one minority.
But still.... poor Bernie Sanders is the targeted one?

Something with this stinks to high heaven. I mean really stinks.

Some sort of shenanigans like that is certainly possible. I suspect it would be found out if it were though.

Yeah and he's been fighting for civil rights since the 60's (50's?).

Since we recently had a news-item about a woman who as an NAACP official touting her blackness against her Caucasian background, I'll make an observation or two.

If you can create the event, you can determine the news. If you can determine the news, you can create myths. If you can create myths, you can shift public opinion.

And if you know you have a paranoid streak, you might say you can't dismiss the possibility, or you don't know enough to either dispel a suspicion, or confirm it.

Let me add something to put this in context. Thursday, LA Times had a front-page story about how the Watts riots continued to affect California politics for many years, for example -- handing the GOP 24 gubernatorial years out of 32. In that case, the riots were a self-destructive mistake on the part of volatile rioters. It was an event; it affected public opinion; it affected state politics over decades.

I saw all this stuff emerging over the years. Easy examples are the Breitbart scandals -- for instance, the ACORN frenzy.

So I'll be perfectly honest to say I "don't know what to make of it."

Slamming Bernie Sanders and "Seattle progressives" for "white supremacist liberalism?!" That's a good one!

Going back through the history of propaganda campaigns to the Great Father, Josef Goebbels, I think one effective technique is to accuse some unsuspecting target as culpable of the very thing that the propagandist's group may be thought to do.

"Obama is like Hitler" may actually have mild fascist origins.

So like the county sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) says in "No Country for Old Men" -- "Just who are these people?"

Its odd to target him Bernie is not the guy to expand police powers.
They will be targeting the Hildabeast as well. Maybe even the Pubbies. Their aim isn't to target Bernie, they are attempting to force the Democrat platform to be one issue: Black Lives Matter. If that seems foolish, stupid and counterproductive, just look at the Occupiers and to a lesser extent the Tea Parties doing the same thing, making the same demands. When people get to the point of storming microphones and obstructing like-minded events, it's because they no longer see any value in playing by the rules. They believe the only way they will make any progress on their issue is to behave badly.

Sadly the people who are most hated become the most hateful. You become what you are told you are with violence. This is why, in my opinion, Obama's Amazing Grace speech was one of the best the country has seen. It was beyond profound.

Continuing to yell at candidates is not a good tactic long term. Ok first time they got their point across that was fine. But now the tactics need to change. It also would have been smart for the Sanders camp after the Netroots gathering to reach out to their leadership discuss the issue and try it again in a more organized fashion.

There are some here hinting getting in candidates faces and yelling is unique to #blacklivesmatter. Anyone remember the organized Tea Party shout fests at town hall meeting during the ACA debate? Remember Tea Party activist spitting in the face of Congressman John Lewis?

Could you please quote the poster/s that hinted such? I couldn't find any evidence of such. Nice diversion post none the less.

Doing this on Brown's death anniversary to honor black lives? Like he was somehow not guilty of his own death? These people are stupid. There are much better ways to further their cause than to pull a stunt like this.

I believe the point is police should protect the neighborhood not beat & shoot on sight. Mr Brown did not act responsibly but did he really deserve death. Did his corpse have to lay on the street for four hours?

Not only that, but I think you have to really put yourself in the shoes of the community. They've been dealing with unequal treatment by the police and justice system for generations. To them, it was just another time where a police officer shoots an unarmed black kid with no repercussion for the officer. I don't blame them one bit for being pissed off (even if the officer was in the right) because they have lost faith in the ability of the system to act in a race-blind manner. And the police shouldn't be acting like a force from a dystopian movie, occasionally going into a community with a 'show of force'. They need to work with the community and rebuild trust. There needs to be a change in how we handle the justice system - it shouldn't be a money making scheme that helps to entrap people in it and in poverty (see: stuff about bail, municipal violations, and probation). And there needs to be equal treatment under the law.

Well well well. Nothing changes. A whole crowd of people who's origin would be relatively easy to determine show their ignorance and once again as I suspected this would be spun as a genius level conspiracy by Republicans. This movement put these people up for it, and in their willful arrogance and purposeful ignorance they shut down the one person who most has their interests at heart. But suppose there is a conspiracy? Who benefits? The Republicans don't fear Bernie, but Hillary might want to deny him a voice. Hillary is ahead with blacks but there is no convincing argument that she is the voice of the people over Sanders.

Oh, hello to my buds here!
