Bergdahl to be charged with desertion

Trump is a deplorable hypocritical pathetic excuse for a human being. He has the nerve to bitch about Bergdahl when his slimness dodged the draft with some bullshit bone spur excuse. What a pussy. Say what you want at least Bergdahl signed up and tried.

No, Trump hasn't got one right, not this one either but like Bergendahl Trump serves the enemy, both are traitors to the American people.

He tried to serve the Taliban? That must be why he was imprisoned then. Is this you being a rational thinker again?

You don't join up with the enemy and get away with it, unless you think that politics should determine actual facts.

I don't, and if you do, then excuse Trump for every single thing he ever does immediately.

Just a hair short of the death penalty that Trump wanted.

The judge did say that his comments would be considered mitigating evidence in the sentencing, opening his yap may have saved Bergdahl jail time.
Trump's comments?

Why would a judge say those are mitigating?

I would say most pow's don't plan on being captured. Do you have evidence that this guy wanted to run with the enemy?

Yup. He should have received the only penalty due for a traitor. The fact that he can be used as a political pawn saved him but it shouldn't have.

Ditto to you as well - In your zeal to find something to latch your hate on to you completely missed my point.

But he willingly looked them up and surrendered to them, don't try to make this traitor into something he is not, it won't save face, it will just demonstrate wilful ignorance and if you go with that... I'm not your guy, buddy.

I'm more surprised by the verdict than Dump's reaction.

Commander Bonespur, who shits on POWs and dismisses judge rulings based on judge ethnicity, thinks he can label something, anything, a disgrace? That's pretty fucking funny. Kind of like watching the republicans act like they have some kind of moral high ground to stand on here while they work themselves into a lather. Sooooo damn lame.

I think when Obama first got Bergdahl back I said a dishonorable was the least of what he should get. Close enough. Prolonged captivity with torture involved counts here, as does Dump the dipshit doing what he does to ruin things. I can say a lot of bad things about Bergdahl, but I will give him this: he's not trying to act like a victim or misunderstood hero here. He is taking responsibility for his actions. I wish certain other government employees could do the same.

I don't see how. There was no jury to prejudice. Bergdahl had a trial by judge, not jury.

Fern

Do you not understand the concept of ordered prejudice. A court could not have done anything else after Trump's words on the matter. If they had found him criminally treasonous they would have been nothing but water carriers for Trump per appearance.

Trump is an idiot, he really, REALLY is a complete and utter moron who cannot even take advice but feels the need to utter his ineptitudes at all times on all forums he can do it on.

The question is, how many people did Bergendahl torture while he was an ally of the Taliban?

Or are we dismissing actual facts for made up bullshit when it suits the agenda on this issue on both sides? Be honest, the man defected to the Taliban, he was NOT a POW, every single one of us knows this.

Regardless I'm not your buddy, friend.

I'll take a link to actual facts showing he looked them up and surrendered to them.

Well you seem to know what really happened over there I guess you were there? You mentioned facts all I see is opinion. Do you have any proof he tortured people? That seems like a bizarre statement to make.

No, what you are reading are the well evidenced facts, did you read the charges and the conviction?

Until you do, I find this discussion useless.

I'm glad it's over for Bergdahl & all of us. The verdict was inevitable & the sentence just from my POV.

The ravers can now go rave about something else.

Tried... to serve the Taliban?
He is the very meaning of treason and you would have us respect him? He should be in prison.

He was.... for 5 years.

In the beginning of my captivity, after my first two escape attempts, for about three months I was chained to a bed spread-eagle and blindfolded. The blindfold was only taken off a few times a day to allow me to eat and use the latrine.

Because of the constant heat and sweat my body where it was in contact with the bed would become sore and raw, burning from the sweat and pressure. ... my eyes where always burning and aching. Around my ankles where the chains where, I developed open wounds that looked like the STAPH infection I had had earlier that year. The infection also appeared on my forehead and side of head ... my body started a steady decline in constant internal sickness that would last through the final year.

In the first three months they fed me elbow noodles or rice and very little of anything else, as well as two bottles of water a day. But because of the growing internal sickness it became more and more of a problem to eat. During these months some of the things they did was beat the bottoms of my feet and parts of my body with a copper cable.

After the first year they put me inside a cage. In there my hands where always handcuffed in front of me, being taken off only on the few times I would wash and change clothes ... I had between 8 and 12 open wounds on each wrist under the hand shackles. Not healing I would have to push the puss out of them daily. Then they moved the cage to another room over the top of plumbing that they had built into the dirt floor. After this, since they no longer had to take me out of the cage, they took ah the chains off me.

.. I was kept in constant isolation during the entire 5 years, with little to no understanding of time, through periods of constant darkness, periods of constant light, and periods of completely random flickering of light, and absolutely no understanding of anything that was happening beyond the door ...

I don't think he is worthy of respect but I think he paid for his crime. To be outraged over this is laughable.

This was widely report at the time. I'm too lazy to look it up for you. IIRC, villagers told the troops looking for Bergdahl that Bergdahl was actively seeking the Taliban. He was asking them to direct him to the Taliban.

As far as as surrendering - what else was he going to do? IIRC, he left his weapon and other gear back at camp in a pile.

No, that's your question. One I don't really have an answer for as it sounds like your definition of torture may differ from the one the rest of us are familiar with.

Or are we dismissing actual facts for made up bullshit when it suits the agenda on this issue on both sides?

Show us your aversion to bullshit by not employing so much of it please. The agenda on both sides? I have no idea what you are talking about, largely because you are just ranting.

Be honest, the man defected to the Taliban, he was NOT a POW, every single one of us knows this.

Oh I'm all for honesty, that's why I ignore people here who repeatedly show me they are dishonest. I honestly don't know how someone tortures others while locked in a box by armed captors. I honestly don't believe Taliban have a penchant for imprisoning, torturing and ransoming comrades in arms, but if you have something in the way of proof that it's one of their proven recruitment tools, well I'm all ears. Bonus points if you can do it without trying to speak for anyone other than yourself.
