If you liked him as Bennifer . . . you'll love him as Benator!

That's the hot new idea being tossed around by Virginia Democrats, who are desperately searching for a big name to challenge the reelection bid of rising GOP star Sen. George Allen next year, now that outgoing Gov. Mark Warner has ducked out.

Hahaha! The Democrats must be so desperate to attempt to drag out another Hollywood liberal out.

Well, he did a miserable job at Daredevil. Time for a change of careers I suppose.

Like the Hollywood Republican Governor in California that has approval ratings as bad as or worse than the Gov. that was recalled?

Does your partisan BS ever stop?

Ahnuld is still 100x better than Davis, IMO.

I don't see how Phil Angelias or Bill Lockyer will do good for my state. All talk, no action. At least Arnold is trying to bring good things for California.

Republicans have little love for a liberal like Arnold.

Don't feed the troll. Eventually he'll either go away or resort to the kind of talk that got him banned the first time.

Eh, its only as bad as the Repubs nominating the Arnie in California. Is Affleck even from anywhere near Virginia?

No, but he's apparently buying a house there.

In all fairness, the Republican party didn't exactly nominate Ahhhnuld - the post-recall runoff election was an odd process that didn't include a nomination process IIRC.

This is more like the Illinois Republicans crafting the absurd idea of importing Alan Keyes, of all people, to run against Barack Obama in the 2004 Senate election. That proved to be one of the most lopsided senatorial elections in history - Obama won by something like 85-15.

It obviously was a vacation and not a banning.

It looks like Warren Beatty is going to run against him next time around. Every time I think California can't get any more weird.....

If the public didn't hold Arnold's past interviews about orgies and drugs against him, or the sight of a gubernatorial candidate wearing speedos and a feather boa running around a wrestling ring against Jesse Ventura, I hardly think they'd hold a couple of box office flops and a failed engagement against someone.

It sounds like it's just a new fad that both parties have latched onto lately. How about the idea of Warren Beatty running against Arnold? The tabloids will really have something to talk about in the the battle of the past party boys.

Arnold and Regan were both actors...

Maybe Zendari can explain how this is different...

Maybe Gallagher can jump back into the fray again, too.

100 * 0 = 0

However, anyone would be better than Davis was for CA.

Or the Clintons purchasing a house in NY.

Uh, no. Hilary Clinton won handily and has been enormously popular in NY. I am not much of a fan of carpetbagging (and neither was Alan Keyes, until he did it!), but you can't argue with her success. Alan Keyes was a sacrificial lamb, as would Ben Affleck be, if the Democrats talk him into running. He appears to me to be completely empty-headed, but then I've felt the same way about a lot of politicians who turned out to be very successful.

So because Clinton won it changes the story about shopping for a venue to win a senatorial seat?

I think it's a material difference, yes. As I said, I'm no fan of carpetbagging, regardless of party, but IF the VA Democratic Party drafts Affleck to run, it'll be much more akin to the Keyes situation than Hilary's, in that she actually wanted to run for the Senate, and won handily. Ben, like Keyes, would effectively be a draftee and not seriously expected to be a contender. At least he would presumably be less prone to saying outrageous and hypocritical things than Keyes himself (Keyes is the same man who lambasted Hilary for carpetbagging, then did it himself, said he was strongly opposed to reparations for black people, then proposed a specific reparations program, and said homosexuals were "selfish hedonists" in spite of having an openly gay daughter, among many other gems).
