Belkin Acquires Linksys From Cisco

meh, to be honest Linksys is nothing like they used to be

The last couple linksys routers I've had have been junk. They moved to internal antennas and none of them have been as good. I moved on to other products already.

Almost accepted a position with Belkin last year, interesting acquisition.

I interviewed with Belkin's IT department many years ago. You dodged a bullet based on my interview with them. Very clueless and as a result of that interview, I won't even buy Belkin products anymore. 😀

It can't be any worse. Any of the new Linksys stuff has been total garbage. And even the consumer grade Cisco crap you find in Staples is just terribad.

I don't give any of their products a second look ever, unless I'm buying enterprise stuff.

At home, has always been D-Link for me.

I've owned two Belkin "routers" in the past and they shit out after only a few months of use. Then again, they were probably $15 each.

My WRT-54G is owning still

The newer Belkin models are really nice. I scored their N900 model when they were having a 50% sale and it's been great. The software and interface get a big thumbs up now. No issues after a year.

Same here; I had a Belkin and could never get it working properly.

Have had 2 Linksys WRT-54 ('03 & '08) and no problems with either.

My Cisco/Linksys E4200v1 refurb has been spectacular for the past few months. It's been an excellent simultaneous dual-band router.

My original WRT54Gv5 or v6 was pretty crappy in terms of wireless if there were more 4 or 5 people on the network. And an Asus WL520-GU running Tomato was pretty solid until you wanted to do wireless intranetwork file transfers, then it would just bog down and no one would be able to access the internet until the file transfer was done.

I don't get all the Cisco/Linksys hate. My WRT160n running Tomato had been solid for years. And we use E1200/E1500s for clients all the time and have no problems. They are cheap, simple to setup, and work fine. I've had more issues with Buffalo and D-Link, but i'm sure the same can be said by others for Linksys. I don't think they are any worse than other brands.

sounds more like Belkin hate.

I'll agree Belkin's track record is horrid. The couldn't code firmware if their life depended on it. They're probably going to simply drop their line and slap "Belkin" on Linksys's current products.
