In 1883 Henry Ziegland decided to break up with his girlfriend. His girlfriend, who apparently didn't handle rejection very well, was so distressed that she committed suicide. Her brother decided to avenge her death. He rounded up Ziegland, and then proceeded to shoot him and then himself.
Little did the brother realise the bullet had only skimmed Henry, lodging itself in a tree behind him. He lived a normal life for another 20 years until Henry decided it was time to take down the tree that took a bullet for him.
By this time, the tree was quite large, and since chainsaws weren't an option in 1883, the prefered method of removal was dynamite.
Henry detonated the dynamite, which in turn caused the the same bullet from 20 years earlier to fly into his head and kill him.
