Think about it for a second. It's probably an item that they don't sell in huge volumes, so that means they have to up the price of individual items more than they would for individual items that they sell in much larger quantities. Couple that with BB's high overhead. Couple that with BB's being a publicly traded company. Being publicly traded means that if they don't hit their projected sales each quarter, their stock takes a dive and corporate loses money (and upper management loses things like their nice cushy bonuses).

Best Buy isn't responsible for their customers choosing to pay $600 more; it's the customer's money and the customer's choice what they want to do with it. If they want to buy a $2 item for $2,000,000,000, then it's their choice and the company that sells it to them isn't "evil" or whatever you're trying to push because of it.

You are still a douche.

Wow, quality response to a post that I put a respectable amount of effort into. Good job.

You're not worth a quality response

I have to agree with you.

Also, internet stores tend to be cheaper than B&M anyway.

Did something similar to the Dell kiosk in the local mall.
Put the computer next to the Dell Jukeboxes on the Ipod page on Apple's website.
And the large Plasma screen they had set to HP's Homepage 😀

Kinda juvenile... I mean, unless you work for the competition, what benefit do you get from "sticking it to the man"? Heaven forbid a company try and make a profit... however large you think the margin might or might not be.

I'd advise you to take your own bloody advise..

So what is your opinion on wal-mart?

Sam Walton is an absolute GENIUS. He found a great niche and millions of customers every year remind him of how creative he is and reward him for thinking outside the box by spending billions of dollars in his stores.

Sam Walton was just a cranky, cantankerous, miserly bastard, who made people sleep eitght in a room on buying trips (did a study on Wal-Mart in College). That said, he gave the trailer-trash a central location to spend their hard-earned pogey, while being able to buy ammo, guns and alcohol (in some locations) in one convenient location.. kudos to him for exploiting whomever he could, and not feeling guilty about it...

BOO!

A real 7ee7 H4XFR would've piped that screen to their matrix of screens in the TV section so someone could've read it from the parking lot.

Agreed.

But if the OP gets his jollies from pulling childishly ineffective 'pranks' that just end up equating to 5 seconds of an employee's time in simply closing the webpage, then more power to him. Keep sticking it to the man! Knowledge of capitalism ethics and basic economy functions are beneath you! You don't need to understand how supply and demand works, you don't need to know anything about them fancy online vendors! You just keep pulling up webpages and text editors and the world will be a better place.

The other day I was @ CompUSA and I was wearing a red dress shirt and tie. I got tired of people asking me If "we" had anything that would do "this." After I helped a few folks find what they were looking for, I decided to head next door to Best Buy.

When I read that... for some reason, my mind put a comma between dress and shirt and I thought... :Q

That's how I read it too 😀

Awesome work though overall

I was going to say that your POV is invalid because it seems to have nothing but a negative spin on everything, presenting a seemingly completely bias POV... then I realized that my POV was exactly the opposite. He didn't force anybody to do anything. They saw potential and were willing to make the sacrifice knowing that their future would be more secure by doing so. 🙂

True enough... but in a marketing class, when you're presenting why Sam Walton should have died the Death of a Thousand Castrations, you really only tend to look at the darker side of the subject...

That said, I hate going to Wal-Mart... but they're khaki's are dirt cheap, and last forever..

Yes they are. Their fvcking name is Best Buy. Their whole deal is having the best prices. Not only do they not have the best prices, they are famous for their terrible knowledge on the things they sell. There are stories galore of people getting ripped off because they didn't know better and expected these people to know.

one word:

Microsoft.

You are not alone, I changed screensavers in every computer every time I pay a visit to BB.

"JUNO WAS HERE!" and "YOU'VE BEEN PWNED!" I stopped about two years ago but those days were fun.
