any update on the 290x cross fire?

Not yet. I just traded out 1 of my ti's for a 290x dcu2. Should have it Thursday.

Msi gaming 290x and dcu2. Those cards are going to put my case cooling to the test.

And i thought NV was immune to microstutter

with multi-gpu. nothing is immune to stutter.
just less and bearable with nvidia.

in this particular case - it is BF4. BF4 is still broken.

having the same issue (i7-3770k w/ 680 4gb trisli). did not notice it earlier due to solely playing recon. camping/sniping 90% of the time. now that sniper is all unlock. started playing assault/engineer/support where it requires lots of moving/panning/shooting. BF4 is a stutter fest. oddly BF3 is smooth.

depending on what lavaheache results are with 290x cross fire. may switch to the red team for tri fire. if not. may consider going backward to single screen.

ultimately. will get rid of battlefield broke permanently.

update:
finally found the culprit to my mouse stutter.
it is NOT mouse nor sli nor bf4.

I get microstutter with and ONLY bioshock infinite. doesn't bother me much

Is it micro-stutter or stutter?

Because Bioshock infinite is well known to stutter once in a while...on any type of cards.

Well hopefully I will get the card tomorrow and be able to tell you if the situation is improved.

I really wish people wouldn't send me stuff that requires me to sign on delivery. I really can't sit around the house tomorrow and wait for the package to come.

Wondering ... how's your DPC latency? Run LatencyMon or DpcLat and see what you get. Windows 8 was known for latency issues, but it's certainly not unique to that.

well it stutters despite running at a consistent 60fps, I guess that micro stutter? same goes for metro 2033:hmm:

need to run a few more tests plus screenshots and or videos to make sure it is air tight. without undisputable proof, the culprit will make many people upset.

also do not want to derail your thread.

Micro stutter isn't percieved as occasional stutter, it's more of a consistent feeling that the game is running slower than the FPS due to the cards not quite being in sync.

So 30fps feels like 15fps.

I think I've about had my fill of Microstutter.

Experienced it with Crossfire 7970s. Had a 660 Ti lying around figured the superior Nvidia option would be best. Now SLI 660 Ti and I experience it just as much.

Just going back to one card. And then running into games that don't have have an SLI profile. Woof.

mGPU is for the birds.

I concur. While there are work arounds, It is more frustrating than fun

I wish it worked better myself. Last night I was playing BF4 and it felt like my FPS was way off, like something was seriously wrong. It felt like 1 card stopped working or something, so I turned FRAPS on to check. Both cards were working and FPS was high, around 90 or so, but it felt like 45 and sluggish and crappy. Kind of annoying.
It didn't stay like that though. The next map was smoother. Problem seems to come and go for me, or maybe I'm just imagining it (doubtful really).

Which drivers for the 290x crossfire? The latest betas are reported to introduce stutter into all games that aren't BF4.

ya. Still have multigpu issues. I haven't tried different drivers for the 290x's. Only the latest beta's. It seems foolish to even try other drivers at this point. In my eyes there are only 2 possible things left.

1- there is something wrong with my motherboard or cpu which causes the stutter.

or

2- multigpu just stinks and other people are blessed with the inability to see the problem in their own rigs.

IF anybody can try to replicate my issues it would be appreciated. All you have to do is create a scenario where you can pan around an object and have a somewhat lowish frame rate with mgpu. Something like 35-45 fps does the trick for me.
