'skunk' is a result of sunlight, not heat. Extremely high temps can change the taste, but not the average room temp. It's largely a mental thing - you assume it's 'skunked' and therefore you think it tastes bad.

Good beers taste best at room temperature. So you have to ask yourself: Do you like good beer or shitty beer?

You guys crack me up. There is no difference in taste going from cold to room temp and back to cold again.

Now, if room temp for you is 85+ or you store your beer in direct sun light, then sure. But if you took a beer out of the fridge, put it on your counter for a few days, then refrigerated it again, it would taste no different than if you had left it in the fridge the whole time.

I think beer that has been cold then gets HOT gets skunky tasting. Hard to say depending on how warm it got.

I also think soda reacts the same way IMHO. it's fine if it hasn't been chilled, but I think once it has, it gets funky.

I'd be willing to put a lot of money down on your inability to tell the difference between chilled then warmed then chilled soda versus warmed then chilled soda versus only chilled soda.

hey, it tastes different to me. IMO soda that has been chilled and then gotten hot (in the garage or whatever) takes on a more bitter and acidic taste.

and as you can tell, several people posted they think it happens with beer. why is it inconceivable that soda reacts similarly?

Well, beer skunks because the light actually triggers the release of chemicals from the yeast and other things. I just don't think there is anything analogous in soda.

I believe you taste a difference, but I think that's because you know which cans have been warmed then cooled. I think in a blind test, it would be very, very difficult to tell the difference. Then again, I'm not you, so you might be right :)

As long as it doesn't get hotter than room temp, there isn't a problem. In many other countries, they ALWAYS drink their beer warm.
