Should I give up? Was looking for a nice phone to run on straight talk. I wanted the nexus 4. I have not seen it in stock once since it started being on the play store. What gives?

They only made about 400k of them in the initial run, which are now all sold. They'll eventually get more, but the pent up demand is likely to cause another all-out feeding frenzy and there probably won't be enough supply to cover it. So you could wait until the next batch is released, but there's still no guarantee that you will get one.

If you have good options, you could give up. Or if you're unsure, you could just wait. The good news about the shortage is that you can still get good money on Kijiji/Craiglist for the Nexus 4, so it's not as if you'll lose money once you actually do get it but decide to get rid of it.

Personally though, I just gave up and got a different (better) phone, since my carrier had a good deal on a flagship Motorola LTE phone just before Xmas. I got the phone for $50 on a really well-priced contract.

I actually had the Nexus 4 on order for 6 weeks (from the second round of availability) before they finally allowed the phone cancellation. Never actually got the phone in hand after 7 weeks.

My guess is another Play Store batch in a week or two, since the carrier outlets are getting them in again right now.

How *big* this next batch is -- who knows?

At this rate you might get your hands on one when the feeding frenzy has shifted it's attention to Nexus 5.

LG did state they're going to ramp up production of the Nexus 4 going into February. Take that with a grain of salt though . . . the blame game with the N4 supply has been all over the map.

LG is really doing a great job with the Nexus phone brand. I can totally see Google giving them the contract for the next Nexus phone. Totally.

I paid $425 for mine on ebay a few weeks ago. I grew impatient and lacked self control.

I think the next couple weeks might have some. I am also waiting. Other carriers are releasing it at the start of Feb. So maybe Google will have some as well????????

I am in a similar situation and looking for a solution. My temporary solution is to carry a dumb phone until it's available, while leaving smart stuff to tablets.

Off-topic question: I was at a mall today, and surprised to see Galaxy S3 going for more ($149/$199) than Optimus G ($99) for most carriers. Why?

Demand?

Blame advertising, or the lack of LG updates, or storage/battery, or whatever, but people still need a nudge to consider it. With the S3 as everyone's default Android option, it doesn't need a discount until the S4 pops.

don't give up. The demand is so high you will end up with a phone worth more than you paid. You can easily pick up something cheap in the mean time.

The demand will remain high for at least 3 more months.

The nice thing about not having one until now is that all of the ROMs and Kernels have had time to mature. By the time you get it, there will be a plethora of very stable and very awesome ROMs and kernels out there. There is already a ridiculous amount to choose from, but they are still being polished and having features added and refined.

The 8800GT of phones will sell only 400K. That's genius!

I'm already tempted to get a N4 since it sells at around the same price as a S3 Int, but with the S4 around the corner and if that has AMOLED+....Decisions, decisions.

You know, I really should have had my friend flip her GSM GNex for a SGS3. The prices on those were insane.

Argh! I was in the market, and seriously considered the Nexus 4. My SGS3 is to be delivered today, and the Nexus 4s come back in stock!

I'm still not sure if I regret paying the $125 premium I did. I'm not sure If I could have waited. Kinda wishing I had the 16gb though.

It's in the google market now. Hopefully they can finally catch up with demand.
