usually like 4bucks i think. grabbed the last 12 4oz packs. its in a black package with red letters. its the reddish and soft kind of jerky. and please, light a match =P

Right now I am chewing on some home-made beef jerky. Very easy to make. Get some top round steak and cut it into strips. Them marinate in soy sauce, brown sugar, and liquid smoke for 7 hours. Then I throw them in my $35 dehydrater and whamo...The BEST beef jerky you will ever taste. Costs me about $3 a pound to make. Everyone that has tasted my beef jerky swears it is the best. Try it you will love it...gauranteed🙂

dang you vette9898 now im going to have to look for a hot deal on a dehydrater, can you be a little more precise on the ratio you mix those ingredients.
Thanks

I don't know what proportions others use, but I mix equal parts of soy sauce and worchestershire(sp?) sauce, add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke, and a teaspoon of salt for each cup of marinade. Marinade meat (round steak is a good choice) for at least 4 hours, then place in dehydrator and sprinkle with coarse ground black pepper to taste. That's the way I like it anyway.

I use 3 parts soy sauce, 1 part liquid smoke, 1 part brown sugar.

<< I've had this brand. I think it's made out of horse. Too soft. and too red. >>

true. its not great i like it more dried up, or if its this soft then with sesame seeds like the asian kind.

ive been trying to find our dehydrator for ages..

I'm a Bridgford original beef jerky connoisseur. I used to be able to pick it up for $4 at Walmart and Kmart but I haven't been able to find it lately.

You should clarify that you actually mean $3 per pound of fresh meat - unless you can get top round for $.75 a pound...

Whenever I make jerky, it takes 3-5 pounds of meat to make 1 pound of jerky.

No need to buy a dehydrator. Use the rack in your home oven. Drape each piece so it hangs from the rack bars. Put your oven on warm and let it go until it's done the way you like it. We do this and it works great, plus a LOT more room to do LOADS of jerky if you use both racks. Be sure to put a sheet or two of foil on the bottom of the oven to catch the drips or you'll be scrubbing it out later on.

I don't usually like off brand food but Meijers brand is the most tender and tasty jerky I ever had.🙂😉😀😛😎🙂

Youre right. Never thought of that. My bad

i can pick damn good stuff up at costco for about 10 a pound dry. why would I make my own for around 12+ and have to mess with it myself?

and im a jerky freak

also the jack links that I know of, is KIPPERED ... so its supposed to be juicy. its more like pickeling than drying.

Personally, I just go to Chinatown and get some juicy fruit juice beef jerky. Cost 15.00 per pound but they are very good.
