Beatles Rock Band coming 9/9/09 with special Beatles instruments

I'm debating buying this. I loved the RB/GH series of games... I truly did. But now with new games coming out every few months... I just think that these games have jumped the shark and they are bringing less and less to the table. After GH: Metallica, I decided that RB: Beatles would be the last of these games I ever bought... and that I would only rent any future releases. Now I'm considering not even buying the Beatles game. I just don't know that I will want to spend enough time playing it to make it worth $60.

I love the Beatles... don't get me wrong. And unlike previous posters.. I don't really care that much about the whole "platform" thing. Being able to play other versions without swapping disks is nice but it's not the end of the world that we can't do that with the Beatles game. I just think I'm finally getting tired of the genre.

Was probably going to buy this... but then GH offered free GH:VH with the purchase of GH5.... so I bought that. Will have to rent RB:B

No, thanks. I'll pass on this just like I passed on every other RB ad GH.

Then...why post in a thread about Rock Band?

😕

You mad?

I'm furious!

The game looks fun, but I'll wait and see how people like it before I think about picking it up.

Why do you need people to make your decision for you?

If you like the Beatles and like Rock Band, this should be a no-brainer. Otherwise, pass.

I love Rock Band, but I only kinda like the Beatles. I would normally pass on this kind of a game, but I hear that the way it was made and the whole presentation is just awesome and that makes me kind of want to get it. That's why it's not an easy decision to get it or not.

If anybody on PS3 gets it, could you let me know how the voice chat is? On RB2 it goes over the tv speakers even if you have a headset. I'm hoping that is fixed.

Edit: forgot the 😕

Maybe some people actually value other's opinions.

If Guitar Hero can give Metallica, Aerosmith, and Van Halen, and god only knows who else before this roller coaster of plastic instrument driven music based games ends, then I think Harmonix can give the Beatles a well crafted, exclusive title.

We are talking about the Beatles after all. Not exactly flavor of the month. It's The Beatles.

Yeah, I bought it. It's friggin awesome.

pssssttt, this isn't going to end... there's a ton of popular music out there (with more coming out all the time) so there will never be an end to these games

Was going to pick it up at Microcenter for $39.99, but they only received a handful in. They gave me a rain check so hopefully I can pick it up before it expires on the 13th.

It varies. Some of it is pretty tricky, but nothing like the hardest songs on RB2. It's a bit more mellowed out but still challenging.

I bet they paid through the nose for the rights to those songs!

I bet the cut that The Beatles receive is pretty significant, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it's not as big as people expected. Paul has stated time and time again that he just wants people everywhere to enjoy the music and putting it in a game form doesn't really steal profits from album sales... in fact it probably will increase album sales. Not only that, but putting any older song on RB/GH means that it's more likely to be noticed by a younger crowd that would normally only be influenced by what they hear on mainstream radio and on MTV.

So even if the licensing was pretty much what the standard was for other music, the benefit to the band is probably better than the profit from licensing.

That said, with all the hard work and dedication that Harmonix clearly put in to this game (it's probably the first RB/GH game that's as fun to watch as it is to play) then it would be no surprise to me if Apple Corps really let them off easy.

I'm considering picking this one up since I love classic rock from the 60s and 70s. Dumb question but I don't need to buy the whole band kit for this do I? I just want to play solo. Apparently the Guitar Hero Les Gibson works with Rock Band, and it's only $65 at BB. I've never played any of the Guitar Hero/Rockband games before.

If it is the normal Guitar Hero Gibson Les Paul you can buy it at GameStop for $20 new.

Hmm, never thought to check there. Gamestop's Canadian website is gawd awful.

I'm listening to Sgt. Peppers as we speak. Vinyl version. 😛

Holy shit you weren't kidding....

Hmmm, just checked the US site and they don't have the deal anymore that I can see.

The one that looks like this one. They may still have it in store.

I think they just gave up on it. They don't even keep it up to date. I think the American store just licenses out the name, so the deals and availability on the US site don't match what's in Canadian stores.

fwiw that's probably the worst GH guitar, anyway. the shape of the buttons is odd, with the least meat at the part where your fingers are going to be the most (bottom). transitions are so much easier witht eh RB guitars, though even the GH2 explorer is an improvement on the les paul.

of course, if you just want a cheap, working guitar that's wireless, go for it. i'd consider it if i found one for $20.

I just picked up the Rock Band 2 Special Edition bundle for $99 at Gamestop yesterday. It has a guitar, drums, microphone, and the game. And batteries! If the RB Beatles game is $65 you're probably going to hit $99 just on the guitar.

When I checked BB they had the Beatles bundle with all the normal instruments at $140. Unless you want the special Beatles collector instruments, that was $250.

I did buy a used GH Les Paul but the damn thing was broken when I got it. Does Gamestop not test anything? So I exchanged it for a Nyko Frontman, which was $14, half the price of the Les Paul and it's surprisingly pretty good. The game is classic Rock Band but I think they did an excellent job with the visuals and bringing everything together.
