Lol. I remember watching one of his episodes about surviving in the African desert, at the end of the episode he's made it to the coast and was eating mussels/distilling water. Which is fine... but then it just cuts to credits. So now what? You're on a beach probably hundreds of miles away from the nearest person. Yeah, great survival story there! 😛

It doesnt matter if you consider it "faked" or not. He still did all those things, which is all that matters really.

Yes, he did drink the piss. Many times, many episodes.

The show was pretty good actually and had decent info. But I always thought it bad to drink your piss for survival. Distill the piss? Sure.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo.......

Everyone knew parts of the show were staged, but that's not the point of the show, and that is to show you survival techniques and tools in different regions and climates. You could learn quite a bit from watching it, and I'm a fan.

I don't care how fake it was, it was a fun show to watch unlike fellow faker Survivorman who spent all his time creating 'walking away' shots and complaining of foot fungus.

Bullshit. 5% of the time was spent playing a harmonica, 10% of the time was spent whining about being hungry, 5% of the time was spent in the dark "scared" of the animals that wanted to eat him. And 10% of the time was spent whining about carrying his camera equipment.

I think it's a short term strategy, you can't actually survive on piss, but it can buy you a little extra time to find real water

exactly. It was never about him surviving on his own, as it was obvious he wasn't alone. It was more of a guide on how to survive if you were alone and the techniques to use.

If i am in a situation like that i would take less than 1% of the risks that bear would take on his show. The guy is an obvious faker. Gee i am in the wilderness by myself, lets just slide down the side of this massive cliff and risk breaking my leg. Probably not going to do that without his crew there to help him in case he gets hurt.

Survivorman is a far more realistic show. Not nearly as exciting, but from a survival situation, he is a lot more accurate IMO

Yet you felt the need to type all that?

As I said, it's partially because discovery channel sucks for the most part.

Dual Survival is better then all of them. Bear Grylls was over the top on everything. Les Stroud was the most real but always waited till the 3rd day to get food, stupid IMO.

Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury is a cross between the 2. Both Dave and Cody run there own survival schools and live the life style. Out of the 2 I like Dave better then Cody because he has a more modern approach to survival and is a better hunter and gets things done ASP. Cody is more primal in his survival and uses more techniques that are tribal based, has more patience and he is more of a thinker. Bios http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/dual-survival/bios/

After watching Dual Survival on Netflix I went back to watch Bear Grylls and turned it off after 10 mins because he cuts a hole in the arctic ice, gets naked and jumps in. Then he comes out and starts rubbing snow on himself to get dry again. His show is more about how kill yourself.

Yep, dual survival is easily the most practical and entertaining of the bunch.

Well the idea isn't to tell people to jump into the freezing cold water 'to survive', the point is "If you're ice fishing and fall through the ice, here's one way you can dry off".
