Meh...bunch of fucking coffee snobs here.
I buy coffee in bulk...when it's on sale. I think I have 15 of these on the shelves:

it's not picked out of the poop of civet cats then harvested and processed by 12 year old virgin girls...but it's coffee...and good enough to provide me with my morning jolt of caffeine.
Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is top top top top notch
Otherwise, I Love medium roasted sumatra (dark roasts IMO too much taste burned.)
I usually buy "Coffee Bean Direct" Through Amazon. I have been extremely pleased with their coffees, though there is a local roaster in the area that does make better brews.
Also, Kona coffee is awesome too, for when you want subtle, and smooth coffee...
Blue Mountain is my favourite but to expensive...been drinking Kauai Medium Roast a lot lately, very smooth/rich

Dry processed Ethiopian. It's a much lighter colored bean,, almost orange'y in color. Just go to a local bean roaster and see if they have it.
And I'm also a sucker for Starbucks whole bean Blonde Roast if it's fresh ground and done in a french press. Soooooo smooth.
Kenya AA has always been my favorite. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is another one I like a lot. They're both very different in taste.
sumatra, sulawesi
Eight O'Clock Dark Italian Roast. Yeah it's something you can buy at walmart, but it's good, available and doesn't cost $20/lb. 😛 Tastes great out of my french press.

The various Whole Foods blends are also pretty good in my experience.
I would maybe try to do a different country each week. Could do Kenya, Colombia, Brazil, US (Kona), etc. Might be kind of fun.
Huh, I thought Kauai Coffee was rather meh when I tried it....and that was at the source.
All coffee tastes the damn same to me after i put in cream and splenda.
that's cuz you're not a serious coffee drinker.
I guess, but coffee doesn't taste pleasant without cream/sweetener
I still thought this video was pretty great, pardon me if I repost it.
I'll be trying one out in the future.
AEROPRESS - The Ultimate Tactical Coffee Maker.
That and the even roasting his own beans.

I bought an aeropress based off his videos a few weeks ago and subbed to his channel. Monday morning I went to BB&B and bought the burr grinder with a 20% off coupon (cheaper than amazon.com). Now I just need to make a roaster...
Prior to all of this, I was a K cup lover.

I normally drink Folgers or Maxwell House 100% Colombian med. dark in a 4 cup (28oz.) drip coffee maker. They quit carrying the med. dark and started only carrying med. I normally only drink 28oz. because I get heart palpitations if I drink any more. When they switched to med. I had to cut back on the amount of coffee I used because I understand darker coffee has less caffeine. I use about 11 grams of coffee give or take a gram. Does that sound right? With my palpitations would I have problems switching to a freshly ground Eight O'clock variety?
Enjoy me some good Civit coffee

Thanks for your input Crono. I mostly drink coffee for medicinal reasons. It helps me get over the meds I take at night which make me drowsy. I take them again after breakfast so I get up, drink coffee, eat breakfast take meds and then drink my final cup of coffee. It's a vicious cycle.Medium vs medium dark shouldn't matter too much. It's only if you are using a light roast and use a greater volume of grounds that it might give you issues. 11 grams per cup is reasonable, but I'd rather drink a smaller volume (6 to 16 ounces). 28 ounces is a lot of coffee to drink at a time, if I am reading that correctly. I like coffee, but I rarely drink more than 1 to 2 cups (12 to 16 ounces is the max volume of my mugs) in a sitting. Spread your caffeine intake throughout the day and you shouldn't get palpitations unless you are very caffeine sensitive. Sip and enjoy your coffee and anything more than 2 cups probably would cool too quickly for you to enjoy.
Most people who are drinking that much coffee at a time don't actually enjoy coffee. If you have one of those giant "cups" or mugs of coffee, retire that thing and get something reasonably sized so you don't feel compelled to drink that much. Grind 8 o'clock whole beans, brew yourself 1 to 2 cups using a French press, sip and enjoy some decent black coffee.
