Be patriotic, Phelps

He is history's best swimmer. Why would u want that to be soiled by being forced to be the face of a bunch of obese retards that whine about these things

A coworker of mine is friends with one of Phelps' good friends. Apparently he doesn't even want to stay for the closing ceremony.

I don't care if anyone sings, anyway.

I've heard phelps is an asshat. I know a girl who's best friend used to date him. Says hes a giant piece of shit outside of the pool.

Hey - the guy spent the last 15 years of his life practicing swimming for the olympics. He just won GOLD and you expect him to be quiet during the national anthem? He probably was not even aware it was playing. If you have never been in his position, you have no right to criticize.

This is always the case with any sort of celebrity.

Lone Starr: What?
Dark Helmet: I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate. [1]
Lone Starr: What's that make us?
Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing-?which is what you are about to become.

the comments on that article are pretty funny, unless everyone from here is commenting there as wlel they all think the author is a POS

Megan Walsh probably also thinks that he should have held back and let the other athletes win a few medals for a change because it's not fair.

No flag pin? No heart over his hand?

Phelps is a Muslim terrorist.

Patriotism is not measured by how many times you sing the national anthem.

"Patriotism, the virtue of the vicious."

I like how the expectation that our greatest olympian has to speak like a professor and sing the national anthem to be considered patriotic. All the guy has done most of his life is swim. He's been gracious in victory and that's all I care about.

did any of you hear the Chinese sing their national anthem when the Chinese basketball team played the US team? they rocked the house. hell even the Canadians can sing their national anthem with pride. thats just sad.

There are plenty of athletes who sing the anthem when it's played before sporting events, but that doesn't mean the ones who don't sing aren't patriotic.

Who gives a damn whether he sings or not, he's happy to be representing America.

so? i don't see how singing it or not is a sign of patriotism. My Grandfather faught WWII and was very proud of his nation. He would ALWAYS stand (even when he could bearly walk) and cover his heart. but i don't ever remember hearing him sing.

And i have yet to meet anyone who loved this nation more then him.
