BCS Championship Game - #1 LSU vs. #2 Alabama

Tonight, 8:30ET, ESPN

Did everyone forget about this game? I know I did thanks to the powers that be thinking we need this to be after the NFL Playoffs have already started.

I'm really not sure who to pick in this one. I think in the first game Alabama outplayed LSU in pretty much every way other than the one stat that means the most. But then again home field advantage has basically flipped to at least a neutral site, albeit more towards the LSU side since the game is in New Orleans.

Another story to this game will be off the field. How will the ratings stack up since this is an SEC game and may not interest some fans outside of the region at all.

What do you guys think?

That's not even close to a neutral site. I probably won't watch more than the 4th quarter and even then only if it's close.

Maybe not in location but I doubt you're going to see a lot more LSU fans than Bama fans in attendance inside of the stadium itself. And really that's all that matters when it comes to whether a site is neutral or not. I'm sure Bama players are not going to walk in there feeling like they're playing in Baton Rouge. Big difference.

Let's just say that the NCAA will be doing everything it can to ensure LSU wins this game including paying off the refs. In the end, it'll just be a anticlimactic way to end the season after the monster point records of the past week set by Baylor and WVU.

the ncaa does not run or control or make money on the bowl system. they would much rather run a playoff as then it'd be them controlling the billions of dollars rather than the bowls controlling hundreds of millions.

anyway, i might watch if i'm having trouble sleeping. powerful sedative, this will be.

It's a shame we have to watch a repeat of the most boring game of the year for the freaking mythical National Championship Game. Thanks BCS, which we will hopefully see an end of sooner rather than later. Other than the WVU blowout of Clemson most of the bowl games have been pretty good this year.

ive been down with a bad cold but been putting off buying some Nyquil knowing ill be getting a huge dose of it tonite watching this game.

I think maybe they could have avoided some controversy by just crowning LSU and calling it a day. Do you guys realize that not only did they already beat the team they're playing tonight but also the winners of the Orange and Rose bowls? Pretty amazing really.

Everyone outside of the SEC states hate the SEC, much less Alabama. The game tonight is like picking the lesser of two evils, although my personally I hope LSU smokes Alabama. All those SEC schools think they're entitled to shit because of their regional location + the fact their old rich alumni all live down there year round.

And Cotton bowl too I believe.. or Outback? one of those.

That said, I hope Bama wins and takes a huge shit on the BCS.

What a joke of an offseason this sport has. I dont plan on watching it. It is a beauty pagent way to crown a champion.

this is a once a year chance for these 2 shitty states to show off the only decent thing they are at.

I'm sure comprehending what you just wrote is definitely not on that list. The only decent thing they are at? If you're going to toss insults at least use sentences complete with words to do so. Or in the case of Alabama I think grunts and/or hand gestures may suffice.

Game on.

Pretty crazy to me that the two ongoing NFL threads are getting much more activity than this. Says a lot about the state of college football imho.

Hardly surprising. The quality of play, in general, is lower in college football. And most people, if there's limited time, want to watch the higher level of play if there's no direct school allegiance. Even if they're the same guys, I don't think that many people watched pro players in college.
