At least there won't be any dumbass alabama fans dumping industrial strength pesticides on very old trees.

Maybe they should beat up Michigan or Ohio St for a few years. Those could be some big money makers right there.

Michigan and Bama play the first week of next season in Arlington, TX. I have my tickets. I am not at all optimistic we'll win, but that's not why I'm going.

Well, we will have the JC transfer QB. After the last few years with dumb and stupid as QBs (Jefferson and Lee), things can't be worse.

The defense will be very much intact and Brad Wing, the punter, and special team will be back.

Almost anything would be an improvement at QB. Maybe the main thing is Mingo, he's a monster.

Anyone ever think the SEC had five of the top ten defenses because the SEC sucks at offense? Any team that fails to move the sticks - and the SEC has plenty of teams like that - is going to make the other team look like a great defense. Hell, four of the top five are from the SEC. The list of the top 30 defenses in the country is littered with such powerhouses like Arkansas State, Kent State, Florida International, Louisiana Monroe, and Temple. They look really good overall because their conferences aren't really focused on scoring offensive touchdowns. Sadly, they aren't even focused on moving the sticks.

More balanced teams don't have such stellar statistics but they find the way to win. Both Stanford and Oklahoma State would have demolished LSU the way they played against Alabama. Stanford's offensive line can move any defensive line in the country. And Justin Blackmon is simply superman out there against every defense big and small alike. People knock Oklahoma State's defense, but it has came through repeatedly when it counted. And nobody forces turnovers like that defense.

In case you missed that game where LSU beat West Virginia, the latter team destroyed their defense. West Virginia shoved the ball down their throats on the goal line, just as Stanford would have done. The difference was four WVU turnovers. If they had found a way to hold on to the ball and get decent field position it could have easily been a blow out the opposite way.

Oklahoma State's loss came right after a tragedy that caused a major distraction not only to the football team but to the whole country. Its understandable why they got upset.

so, a total of 12 teams - just like current NFL (6+6 in the two conferences) - battling it out in playoffs would work.

Ratings would be through the roof if they did this.

I said many times over the last 14 years since they started the BCS how College Football is not real football until they go to a playoff system, they finally listened.

Major college football is on the verge of implementing a playoff, its own version of the final four. Two semifinals and a title game.

There's still plenty left to figure out, though. First of all, where and when to play the games and how the bowls fit in. After that, Slive and his cohorts have to come up with a way to select the four teams. The new postseason format would go into effect for the 2014 season.
