But Alabama is the defending national champion and they lost earlier than Oregon. Even if you don't count the national champion bit the unfortunate thing about college football is that the timing of your loss is almost more important than who you lost to.
 
Also I'm sure Alabama had a much tougher schedule than Oregon..you compared the loss but have to also look at the wins- don't think there's any way Oregon will be ranked above Alabama unless they lose again
 
Alabama has actually had a somewhat soft schedule this year (relatively speaking of course). They did have Michigan out of conference to start the season but they've turned out to be worse than we expected, not that a schedule maker can really do much about that.

I just looked back and wow it's softer than I thought. Michigan (W), LSU (W), A&M (L). Granted they'll have to play Georgia in the SEC championship game but a UGA win doesn't really tell us much since their schedule has been soft too. I guess the point is, as it always is, can we get a playoff already?
