Spend 2 weeks standing in a trench ankle deep in sh*t and the decomposing guts of the last poor sod to be stationed there, then get gassed and choke to death on your own lung tissue. FUN

I remember that phrase, from a book or something.

vulkan is opengl with mantle

and given their records with opengl i wouldnt be optimistic for it to work at all

They also want to support Win 7/8 and not only W10.

Vulkan can do that, and not require much code changes and the engine design can stay the same. DX11 is a huge shift from a well designed DX12 / Vulkan engine. Going DX12 & Vulkan allows them to have much wider audience as well as a performance focused engine.

the problem with 7/8 isnt really dx12 or 11 or whatever
but the poorly written wddm1.0 now if microsoft could port the 2.0 into 7 or 8 that would have been great..

but if they do so then there is no point on staying on windows 10..

I think Johan had tweeted that they were at least working with Vulkan and DX12 enough to do feasibility tests.

Hoping that on spawn you hear a whisper "Dulce et decorum est" and when you die it whispers "pro patria mori".

Well that name is terrible, should have just called it Battlefield.

I'm guessing the name is a play on the whole World War ONE thing. And because there was already a game called Battlefield.

The sequel will be called Battlefield TWO. Based in WWII.

And then either a "save the world from nuclear terrorists" or a post-apocalyptic survivor free-for-all called Battlefield THREE.

It is kinda cool, going back to the roots aka BF1942. Which was a tremendously fun game.

WW1 was certainly a bonkers mix of weapon technology. Chemical weapons and cavalry charges.

It's part of why I love the idea of going back. There's room for a lot more interesting variety than semi/bolt sniper, lmg and automatic weapon of some description.

Sure, but to keep it realistic you just keep it beside you for the first three hours of a round, and then drop it when you get shot in the head by a machine gun exiting your trench. 🙂

There hasn't been a game called just "Battlefield" - the first one was Battlefield 1942. There has, however, already been a game called "Battlefield 2" as shown below
