Battlefield 3 should smoke Modern Warfare 3

The better game will prevail. I'm a console rat, but if BF3 turns out to be a better game than MW3 on console, than eventually BF3 will prevail. Sales are going to be good for MW3 no doubt, just based on their history of success. But let's go back to 2007. Halo 3 was just released and was the shit of console shooters. I'm sitting here playing Halo 3 and I hear people talking about this new game called Modern Warfare and how it's so awesome. I decide to check it out... the rest is history. If BF3 is that much better than MW3, it will be successful. And then next year when BF4 is set to release, that will be the #1 selling game..... IF the game is actually better.
There won't be a BF4 next year. MW on the other hand...more of the same

When you guys talk about it killing in sales, you're mostly talking about consoles right? I know CoD is hugely popular on consoles. But this is the PC forum. Will MW3 really kill BF3 that much in PC sales?

The only legitimate complaint I see here is the aim-toggle. However this wasn't a problem for me either since toggle-sight is my preferable play style, as opposed to hold-down sight.

The controls in BC2 are extremely fluid, and the hit boxes were fine. You're also the first person I've ever seen complaining about the sound effects. Last time I checked, the sound in BC2 was amazing, so good in fact it was nominated for a TEC award in best sound design.

At launch BC2 hit detection was extremely poor. The game plays totally differently now compared to it's launch state.

It's been announced for the Wii U.

No, to my knowledge it was only implied at E3 that Battlefield (not specifically Battlefield 3) could make an appearance on the Wii U. It hasn't actually been announced.

I was saying the same thing when Bad Company 2 was coming out. "Oh this game will be awesome!"

Until I played it. Bad company 2 play like shit. The controls are horrible, the hit detection is shit, the weapons sounded like shit, you have to toggle to aim down sight, the storyline and acting is horrendous.

Sound? The Battlefield series has some of the best sound design of any game...

You can change it from toggle to hold anyway. So complaining the controls weren't set up the way you like, when you can map anything, is fucking retarded.

"Oh the default graphics settings weren't perfect for me PC, this game is shit."

Ah, I see. Yeah, I didn't start playing BC2 until last fall, which would explain it. I guess I was never familiar with the game before they really polished it.

I think the controls in BC2 is pretty good. One of the major complaints is it feels floaty. I think that's true to an extent. There is an annoying bug with the scroll wheel though. At times it will switch to the wrong gun or won't switch at all. It doesn't make sense because it works fine in every other game. HL2 for example with fast_switch 1. In BF3 you can run while strafing which is freaking amazing.

The only gripe I have, is not being able to move sideways properly, like a 90 degree angle forward and right. Say 0130 on a clock. If I am pushing my forward key, and then hit a straffing key, nothing happens. Still just go straight forward. Drives me crazy. I just started playing BC2 a few months ago though, so I didnt go thru any growing pains of the game.

But yes, BF3 sure looks to be better. But sadly MW3 will sell more. Probably at least 2x as much. I expect BF3 to be reviewed better, and praised more in forums however.

It feels floaty only in DX11 mode. Forcing DX9 mode got rid of it and frame rates are much less jerky. Just turn on 4xAA in CCC the game game basically looks the same.

They're very different games. The BF series has never had the razor-sharp infantry combat of the Call of Duty series. It's all about the vehicles.

Razor sharp? Dude, Cod4, and every cod since, have had the loosest controls ever put into games. Razor sharp is Counter Strike, or Unreal, or Quake.

Please tell me someone knows what I mean when I say since CoD4 the CoD controls have just gotten so friggen loose. I can't stand it. Although BC2 has this same issue of loose controls! I hope BF3 does not, I hope it brings me back to BF1942 and BF2 control feels.

EDIT: This sounds incoherent, but I'm REALLY tired.

I dismissed him as a completely retarded troll when he said the sound sucks. LoL. BC2 IS the the game with the best sound design.

Also, on a side note, I watched the Caspian Border gameplay trailer at work on a shitty iMac, it was incredible. I went home and watched the trailer again with the Logitech 7.1 headset, i pooped and peed a little afterwards. Incredible sound even for a youtube vid.

We should all hold a grudge against the modern warfare series and this is why, I personally never bought another EA game after the sims because they released 50 different expansion packs. How difficult is it to program an expansion pack and market it for another 30 dollars? it's ridiculous, call of duty 1 was great, 2 was a knockoff until 4 which was great then they released a bunch of new knock offs. The company has coasted by on the name alone, yes it uses graphics from 2007, compared to CS the controls and gameplay was GARBAGE. I liked it for single player however, but bf3 shall always have a special place in my <3

BC2 does have good sound except in one specific respect - for some reason it's not easy to sit silent listening for footsteps. Hope that's different in BF3!

I'm a huge Battlefield fan, over 250 hours invested in BF2142 and over 200 hours in BF2. I also liked Bad Company 1 on XBox and played it quite a lot.

BC2, on the other hand, Steam reports I played it for 39 hours... it's the biggest disappointment in the BF series to date, for me at least. Aircraft controls were the worst of all time, they can't even be series releasing the game with those controls... Sprinting in a straight-line only is no longer acceptable. Game balance issues abound - why do Level 13 or 14+ players get access to game breaking upgrades like body armor or magnum ammo... who thought this was a good idea? Upgrades and such are fun and do provide incentive to keep playing, but a level 1 player should be on relatively even footing with anyone else. Less options? Sure, but their gun shouldn't do freakin' 25% less damage or they shouldn't be deprived access to body armor...

Ugh, BC2 makes me sick to my stomach. A lot of the fun in BF2142 and BF2 came from the variety of play. Bored with infantry? Go jump in a tank. Bored with tanks? Jump in a chopper. Bored there? Grab a jet...etc. Super bored with everything and feel like fucking around? Go try piloting a transport heli for strategic drops...etc. All these options were super fun, and while tanks were still fun in BC2 there was so very little else perhaps due to the god awful flight controls. The variety wasn't there to keep me going once the infantry/tank combat got stale.

Hopefully BF3 brings back everything that was great about the BF series prior to BC2.

I couldnt stand the BC2 controls because no prone and you couldnt look in any direction other then straight while running. Other then that they were acceptable. Not as crisp as COD but acceptable.
