GE title. But NV also help to add support for FXAA modes to Frostbite 2.

DICE is very code neutral and they optimize their games to run good on all hardware.

The news is not correct. Dice put GTX580 Cards into their machine, too. Both IHVs supports Dice with help.

Thats ok, you get to wait a bit for updated drivers and now it runs great.

Except if it was a NV game, nothing could be done to fix it. :p

So because they don't have the hardware to win, they turn to tricks on the software side. ():)

But I digress, I still don't see any concrete evidence of a GE or TWIMTBP label on BF3. I think both sides are just claiming it as theirs because it is such a high-profile game.

As i've said, NV helps to add FXAA support to Frostbite 2.

However, Frostbite 2 was designed around AMD hardware and all future FB2 games will be GE. You can do the digging yourself.

If you bother to look at BF3 presentations and FB2 dev presentations, you will know their strict emphasis on efficient usage of tessellation to deliver the best visual gains for minimal performance hit. If that doesn't tell you its influenced by GE, then i guess you will all have to wait for the game to be released.

In the end, i believe DICE when they say BF3 will run good on all hardware. This is a win for gamers.

Didn't one of the Dice guy's say you'll need to run GTX 580 in SLI for ultra settings? Makes me think it'll have an nvidia splash screen.

If BF3 is as amazing as I'm hoping, do you think my Corsair AX850 could run another GTX 580 Lightning? Reading what people have been saying on various forums claim it'll be more than enough but Corsair and nvidia's websites say no.

I trust the opinion of Anandtech more than any, so appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Why is AMD so lagtastic when it comes to support. This is the biggest game of the year and they don't even advertise for it. Makes me have buyers remorse for picking up a 6870. My next card is going to be an NVIDIA.

That's hilarious. I passed its "test", but Im guessing it tells everyone who doesn't have > a 560 to buy a new gpu, and then suggests choices? I betcha AMD does this too. Smart marketing. Question though - if folks aren't smart enough to know what GPU they have, and compare it to the rec'd specs, are they really going to be capable of upgrading anyway? :nods at legions of drooling masses:

It is nice that Nvidia users get timely and regular driver updates and full DX11 implementation *cough** multi threaded rendering*** cough**cough****
Oh, and by not being able to fix performance, you mean like Cryostasis and Darkest of Days? http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=32185244&postcount=170

Oh, i recently tried playing Darkest of Days and Cryostasis on my setup, it ran like balls.

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/3495/msi_geforce_gtx_460_hawk_1gb_video_card/index9.html - 5850 gets 77 fps @ 2560x1600, aka "running like balls".

Your PC's ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series does not meet the game's recommended requirements.

The recommended GPU for Battlefield 3 is a GeForce GTX 560 or higher. Check below to see some upgrade options. To see other system requirements for Battlefield 3, please click here.

Thats hilarious considering that AMD has more regular driver updates / application profiles than nvidia does to fix game specific issues. AMD is also releasing a BF3 driver which should be out today, but BF3 is running fine on AMD hardware without the driver.

http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx

http://twitter.com/#!/CatalystCreator

they update their drivers roughly once a month, with application profiles out even more frequently than that. I thinks you just don't bother checking for drivers, because AMD releases
updated drivers VERY frequently

which is hilarious, because his xfire rig will run it just fine.

Also, if I had a 5870, I wouldnt upgrade either. It's just a sales tool. Funny one though.

Counting hotfixes? Nvidia doesn't seem to need hotfixes to repair critical game-crashing situaitons like AMD cards do. And, if you look at the laptop side of things.... http://www.anandtech.com/show/4839/...hable-graphics-vs-nvidia-optimus-technology/8 then yeah, just count yourself lucky if you have an AMD graphics based gaming laptop and get a driver update.

Game crashing situations? Look I own both nvidia and AMD hardware and neither has ever had game crashing situations in the past 2 years. I can't speak for laptops, whatever.

Smearing AMD hardware with lies and distortions....sounds like the work of...... NVIDIA FOCUS GROUP! Good stuff :D :D :D

I know this is pretty stupid, but shouldn't it say on the requirements "AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series" or "ÄMD Radeon HD 6950" instead of "ÄTI Radeon 6950"? Sounds so informal...
