The spotting in BF3 is a far cry from a wallhack, you cant even see their orange arrow when they go behind cover after being spotted in BF3. A wallhack is just what it sounds like, you can see through any walls/solid parts of the map all over the map. There is no hiding from a wallhacker at any time.

Personally I think having an arrow over ones head is lame, even when its your own teammates, which is why I prefer playing hardcore. Having to be aware of friendlies to avoid teamkills makes the game far more immersive for me.

Just to get back on topic: I think the blue filter is fine and looks better than the mod anyhow, just give me some sunglasses for that blasted sun!

What, is that the reason how I've killed numerous enemies through smoke from tanks exploding, smoke from explosions, through fences, because all I had to do was aim at the orange triangle that was shining brightly through cover?

Man, the kills I've gotten just by firing my rocket launcher through a wall because a orange triangle was there showing me exactly where the guy is.

And it must be a cold day in hell where saturation is suddenly considered a GOOD thing. Hell Battlefield 2 may have been a subdued game color wise, but at the very least, it was the models and textures themselves that were subdued in color. Not desaturated, simply using a subdued color scheme. It never was a brown saran wrap filter. Also it didn't use the stupid blue/orangecolor scheme that BF3 likes to toss at your face to get your attention.

Your obvious lack of experience with how spotting in BF3 actually works is laughable. I can tell you've played BC2 and the BF3 beta. Spotting was fixed before the game even released. Someone goes behind cover/smoke/trees and shrubs they disappear. The only exception would be if one of your teamates had a clear line of view on them.

Stop trolling BF3 because of something that you didn't like in BC2/the BF3 beta. It was fixed LONG ago.

What. I have the full game. I've played Bf3 a decent bit before i got sick of it in record time.

I've been accused to wall hacking because I've killed so many people through walls and smoke. The triangle is extremely lenient, and its such a crutch for bad players. You can follow people running around rocks for god sakes and know exactly when he pops out and kill him as soon as he rounds a corner. Whats the point of having a minimap.

It's a legal wallhack, plain and simple, and just another part of how Dice is trying to dumb down the game to appeal to the COD fanbase.

I never said it was a wallhack btw. I just said that only wallhacks would be a more powerful tool. And it's true. Unless someone is literally behind solid cover, push/spam Q to detect. Arguing that it's not a wallhack doesn't detract from its status as a crutch. Also, separately from that, even if a teammate has line of sight, if it can be seen through solid cover, it's still through walls....

But as I've said in the past, the biggest problem, unless they have fixed it since I quit, is that they punish servers who turn this off individually(not everyone wants hardcore health tables) by relegating them to "custom" status, thus crushing any chance for true server customization.

If planetside 2 is so epicly awesome, why are they still in here trolling anything BF3 related?

Pointing out numerous problems of a game = trolling.

So all game threads should be a massive circle jerk over how good the game is?

Disagreeing with BF3 design is no more trolling than agreeing with it is...

That said, I have to log off PS2 sometime...and PS2 is still in beta, they haven't figured out inter-empire balance yet, but the actual design of PS2, that's shaping up great. Balance will come in time.

I dont recall ever being able to see through solid objects in BF3, at least not since the beta.

LOL

I certainly dont love everything about the game but I do like it well enough to overlook its minor flaws. I just dont understand why someone who claims to despise everything about a game continues to even read topics concerning said game, let alone take time to post in them repeatedly.

Considering they're "features" that completely change how the game is played toward casualization, no they're not minor.

And I check to see if possibly Dice is actually fixing their game. They obviously arenot.

People are stupid for whining. How is Punkbuster supposed to tell apart taking away blue tint and taking away walls.

The colour mod is a code injection, i.e. it's a similar system to how all the hacks for the game work including aimbots. It's not just about the possibility of making enemy soldiers appear more visible or through walls.

The blue tint isn't a problem any way, if you can't see enemy soldiers easily then I suggest that either your monitor is configured incorrectly or you have some form of colourblindness. It's the excessive sun glare that is the problem as it makes for unbalanced maps even more unbalanced.

The colour mod is just as unrealistic as it is too cartoon-like.

I don't like normal spotting (and I actually preferred there being no mini map in BC2 hardcore) but I think that's what "normal" mode is there for. I think it usually 'tries' to correlate the spot triangle with "line of sight" but in my experience it's pretty imperfect.

Far as I'm concerned the only downfall to hardcore is how easy it makes things for snipers, but ultimately I think it's way more fun.

Either way, I support a "no mods" stance in a competitive environment.

How dare you modify a game you paid for. You're supposed to enjoy the games provided to you, and buy the new one in 8 months.

I don't think you pay for the ownership of games anymore. You pay for a license, and you can play the game according to the rules of that license. I get your point though, and I agree with you.

Should be tonight. Servers being consolidated to one per continent, with a cap of ~650 per faction. Plus the new continent Esamir being released, it's gonna be epic!

Back to BF3. I agree the spotting is dumb, that's one thing I'm not happy to see in PlanetSide 2 either. Spotting should make things show up on radar/minimap, not in your actual field of view.

I agree with everything you're saying. I would have been fine with all of this if they called it Bad Company 3 since it's 1000 times closer to that than Battlefield 2.

Well, it's going to be interesting if BF4 quietly has non-blue art direction, automatically formed VOIP channels, etc.

looks less realistic with "realistic" colors...

Agreed, they went a little too far off with saturation on the other end.

But still, I think it looks better, and would probably make the game more fun by being able to, I dunno, ...SEE people.

Remember how FarCry had rendering modes? If you wanted it bland, you could have it bland. If you wanted it bright/HDR'ed, you can have that too. Options. Customization. It's what game developers are allergic to now because it will cost them money. Potential money anyway.

How many awesome maps, mods, or gamemodes could the community make if they released the tools for BC2 or BF3? 50 bucks for close quarter maps? Seriously?

I don't even know where I'm going with this anymore. For those who installed it, worth it?
