How is the single player?
You can play some game modes like conquest and breakthrough solo with bots. It's why I bought the game. The XP is capped but you can unlock attachments (at least for now). You can also create your own solo portal server and go crazy with your imagination where you pick the map, customize the game mode, loadouts, etc.

I've noticed my loadouts aren't changing once I start a game the last couple of days. After a game don't add new items to your loadout until your back at the menu. Also, I thinking holding the E button to get out of the mav is a workaround since just pressing E usually just puts you back in the mav.

While we are waiting on a update.

Some bug fixes coming out this week or next for BFG. A proper scoreboard will come out in February in another bigger patch they said. Voice Chat is still a work in progress, don't expect it until March the earliest.

I haven't been playing video games really, but BF and Halo both lost a lot of their draw to me already, still works in progress, though Halo Multi is more polished. Needs more maps and Forge.

I might download Forza and see what it's like to race cars here and there.

Now that I have a decent GC I may finish Cyberpunk lol

I am so sad at EA. I will never pre-order a game from anybody ever again.

I learned the pre-order/full price game lesson long ago with BF4. The community whined around so much they nerfed everything that made the game accessible to new or casual users. I bet they do the same thing again with all the complaining again. Content creators also have too much influence on games. At least I'm only out $30 and I can still play with bots unless they get rid of those. That's why I'm playing 4 hours a day to get all the unlocks since I never know when they will do away with that feature. I would ask them to improve the AI but it would be a super low priority concern if at all.

I'm in a minority but I like the specialists and the ability to mix and match loadouts. I don't get why people want to limit their options. The best games are the ones that let you play the way you want to play. I would think it would come in handy when you're in a crappy squad, bad team or just when you want to have fun. IMHO having options is what makes portal so great.

I'm in the minority too because I don't find those things dealbreakers at all, other things are worse, but more easily fixable, and that I do see a lot of potential in this game. But people will just move on and never give it a second chance even though there will be no other shooter with that type of style and potential out for years. I think EA deserves a ton of criticism, but the gaming community also shoots itself in the foot a lot. What other game is going to have this kind of battle feel anytime in the next couple years? I don't know of one. COD is a totally different feel. The best shot for BF fans is to let them fix this and give it another whirl.

If you think they are going to change the game to meet expectations of those whining this time, that's incorrect because those complaining now are people that were long time original BF fans since like 1942 and onwards.

Specialists are staying and the reason people complain is that no one wanted specialists and their extra abilities or the empty massive maps.

Like the flight suit specialist, and the grapple hook guy or the shield dude. Everyone plays the most overpowered build because why wouldn't you if everyone else you are fighting will.

What people wanted was a mix of bf3+bf4 and the new things that were put in towards BF V. Five wasn't a favorite among many but it's a more polished title in terms of gameplay, animations, and overall gameplay.

I get that they want to cater to the warzone and faster, more popular shooters but that's what distinguished battlefield from these other titles.

I have not played 2042 since launch but I hope the quality of life improvements keep coming. I don't believe there are that many PC gamers paying it currently.

Sad that the voice chat and scoreboard still will not be in anytime soon.

The maps do need a ton of work. They are so wide open and at 50 I have a rough time seeing let alone hitting the enemy 1/2 mile to 1 mile away lol. Someone else mentioned the building interiors are mostly bare. They also need to add the old game modes like TDM , domination, etc. The sound also needs a ton of work. I remember BF4 sounding better. The entire game is undercooked and I'm sure that's EA's fault.

The maps need work but rush 2042, breakthrough 64 and conquest 64 were good in regards to size vs player count. They could improve them but they were good size wise. Also tdm was fun as fook. But that's gone.

I'm mostly a foot soldier and never was far from a battle. In all those modes at least.

Conquest 128 that's where they were too big. But I think everybody played that mode then left. I played that mode and then just didn't play it again, unless I was on mic with a full squad in a party and we could coordinate vehicles.

I never felt the specialists were too out of wack to match the insane criticism that were getting. A bit of balancing but nothing world breaking

Update 3.2 is live and is 2.11GB.

Update notes: https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-2042/news/battlefield-2042-update-notes-3-2

I think it's going to take 6-12 months before this is a whole game.

Edit:
@_Tom_Henderson_

EA is reportedly very disappointed with how Battlefield 2042 has performed and is "looking at all the options" when it comes to the title, this is including looking at Free to Play in some capacity. I'll have more on this tomorrow.

I came to say about this potentially being free to play
Would we all be eligible for a refund then? Or would we just have to make due with the $7.65 amount people can expect back years from now after a class action group lawsuit arbitration agreement?

Why would you be eligible for a refund? Plenty of reviews have said it is crap. It is on you for buying it anyway. I couldn't even get through 4hrs of the 10hr trial through EA play before giving up.

Probably the second. But who knows.

I'm pretty busy this weekend but I'm going to try to get some rush in on Sunday

I meant it more of a joke really, I don't care about the $60. But if they are going to make it free to play in the end you can expect a lot of people that would care about the cost, to complain.

Seems like they are now working on some intense scoreboard which won't be done anytime soon.

Don't understand why the performance or aim down sight issue when getting out of vehicles aren't seen as more important. A scoreboard is something that has been done before and they could have used that framework from the other titles; leaving more time to the more important things to fix.

I wonder if they are just gonna scrap bf2042 and make it free to play in the end.
Another quarter and more failure for BF2042. With Season 1 pushed off to the summer, don't think they are looking for any returns until the next quarter. I really hope they can salvage some of game. Just improving the maps would go a long way. Though I hear the scoreboard is back and so is voice.

I love how this thread started and where it ended up.

And for the record... I'm cool with EA never touching the Bad Company franchise ever again. I know I'd only be disappointed.

I was getting the out of memory error with my 3600 for the last few months. I dropped in a 5600 and now have no issues with BF2042. I am not going to complain much. There are bugs but it's still functional as a game.

Finally reset my origin password and was able to join but pissed off it uses my origin name instead of my steam name and am pissed off it requires steam AND origin to run.

for the few minutes I was able to play it felt good.
I managed to get a kill assist
I liked the massive map
Running felt fine imo
Jumping over fences and stuff felt good
Shooting felt good, sound wasn’t memorable so sounds need work
Got run over by a tank which I felt was awesome, as poster above said the tank looked like it was sliding along and seemed to lack weight it bounced a bit when it hit the indestructible curb
I lost 10 points due to friendly fire before I fired a shot or did anything

overall I enjoyed my brief gameplay hopefully I have time to try it again.

I did not like all the needless bs required to play:
Link your steam & origin account
Update your cards driver
Give access to god knows what on my computer
Change my origin name
Find out some bastards took FanaticalMeat and Fanatical_Meat and Fanatical-Meat, reflect as to why that makes me sad....think up new improved name fails check, think up another name fails check and again and again.
v2Fanatical_Meat works yay! Then play for a few minutes because of all the bs to be able to play. That part sucked.

I feel like an a-hole for saying this.
The above is the sole reason I didn’t buy the game. Too much bs to log into it and I had to use a different account name from my steam name.
