You don't say.
We already have games like that though. Like Hitman and Total War, BF1 is pretty much guaranteed to benefit from it on 64 player servers once DX12 is actually finished.
Pointless trying to draw conclusions about DX12 based on this beta implementation. I hold DICE in higher regard than to think their DX12 path is actually going to regress performance.
Yep. Its about minimum dips on 64 man servers. Mantle gave a solid boost even for quad sb and up cores on eg Shanghai map in bf4. Its performance and smooth frametime variance where it matters most.
Lets hope its ready in 2 to 3 months.

Even on 64 man server i'm seeing CPU usage hovering in the mid 40's, and peaking to 50% This was done @ 1080p

Yep. CPU performance doesn't seem to be an issue with this game at all. I suppose certain maps may change things a little, but not by much I don't expect. Even if DX12 is useless, DICE had to implement it. If they didn't, they'd be criticized for being out dated and lazy etc. But hey, if DX12 brings better CPU performance, I'll take it. Who wouldn't?

Don't take it too seriously guys. What is FX-6350 doing next to an i5-6600K?

As we get more and more games with DX12 it is becoming more and more evident that the performance benefits for DX12 over DX11 are not cut and dry across the board. There are significant advantages in some scenarios, especially to CPUs with many available threads and or lower clock speeds. In other scenarios there is little to no benefit at all. It's software and CPU dependent.

But dual cores are absolutely obsolete now when it comes to the newest games.

Using a GTX Titan and i7 4770k at stock speed, I just put all settings at the lowest possible to check out the performance. Seems to max out at 150-160 FPS just standing still at main spawn, momentarily hitting 170 FPS when standing right in front of a wall.

I don't know which CPU's do you have guys, but for most of the people with i5's the game doesn't run well. You can check it on the official forums search for "i5's are dead".

I have a i5 3450 and I can't run the game because my CPU is a bottleneck. The same happens for the 3570k. The game is playable in the 3770k but the CPU reaches 90% frequently.

So...

I was about to upgrade my GPU, but after this I think it doesn't worth it.

The game doesn't even run fine on the 6600: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefiel...me_runs_poorly_on_i5_processors_dice_pls_fix/

What is the monitor resolution in that video?

I bet it's 1080p 42% res scale. But anyway, it doesn't matter much since resolution is more gpu bound, and that means that at higher resolution he would get a gpu bottleneck instead of a cpu bottleneck. But as you can see in the video, he's bottleneck is mainly the cpu.

This happens with a almost every i5.

How can I see it's the CPU in his video? Could be he is using 1440p with a GTX970.

Well, you are always going to be bottlenecked by something. If you look at the whole video, the average FPS must be around 80. I dont think I would call that "running poorly". His results also seem to have really high cpu usage for the performance he is getting. For instance, a 4670k at 25% scaling can get >150FPS according to game.gpu so hard to understand why he is cpu limited to half that, even granted that his gpu is much weaker than the 1080 game.gpu uses.

There must be some other variables involved with these people, because this game is weak on the CPU from what I've seen. I'll check out the forum you linked though. I run a really old hex core. Its an ancient sandy bridge and is many generations old. The IPC is a half decade behind the new stuff. Also, Everyone sais games don't use more than 4 cores, so I might as well be running a sandy bridge quad. So in that case, the game runs great on my half decade old sandy bridge quad.

What do you have for FPS in BF1?

Why is it that when you step up from 16GB to 32GB, there is a 900MB difference in memory usage? Why doesnt it simply cap at 8123MB?

lol. Look at this CPU usage and GPU usage. GPU isn't reaching 99%, it's always in 80% and sometimes at 60% because of the CPU.

It's instable as fu**

But it's a hexacore. You have a 3930K no? It's a monster lol

I can't run the game with a i5 3450, that isn't too far away in performance when compared with others CPUs. Everyone was saying that a i5 3450/3470/4440/4460 would be enough for the game but it isn't, and people started complaining about that when the beta was released.

I even saw some people saying the same words you are saying, but after some tests with i5's they changed their opinion.

I'm always between 95~100% CPU usage (only by the game) making my FPS drop from 60/70/80 to 45/55.

Alot of the performance complaints I've seen have been from Windows 7 users

Im using Windows 10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOI-aeWF0bE (45 fps at the end of the video, when he is inside the city with 100% CPU usage and 70% GPU usage).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E63RBubSJIM (45 to 60 fps always moving, on a 24 player server with a GTX1080!)

The game runs between 85 to 100% on almost every i5. On i7's it runs much better, with 50~70% CPU usage, and 80~90% on less powerful i7's like the 3770k.
