the trailers for this movie look terrible. saw a few on tv last night and even the effects just look awful. almost the point they want it to look bad on purpose.

i had no plans on seeing this in the theater to begin with so i'll wait for it to hit redbox. regardless of what any critics say i'll still watch it eventually.

Critic review have doubled since yesterday and score gone down a couple points. One of the best new ones I saw that gave it rotten started with describing it as Snyders best film yet.

Viewer rating holding around 80.

My impression of the reviews so far is it compares to Ultron but not getting any favorable marvel treatment.
 
I will be seeing it in a few hours (for free, through work!) so my opinion might be skewed due to happy half day off and free movie and booze. I already know it will in no way compare to Deadpool so I really don't care. 🙂

Didn't read that review, but that really shouldn't be an issue after MoS. The reason why is perfectly obvious:

--Aliens arrive on Earth to find their missing alien ancestor, whom earth had no idea was living there all along.
--Earthlings are like "WTF, these spaceship aliens are big and scary, and they are threatening to annihilate us if we don't give this guy back?" They instantly turn on Sups and are like "dude, gtfo of here." Military comes after him. he surrenders, but then has to fight Kryptonians...even when he's fighting them, the military is still shooting at him at first.
--Sups and Zod & Co. destroy all of midtown for the whole world to see. Clearly...these creatures are too strong for any known human or human technology to defeat them
--at the end, Sups destroys an Army satellite deployed to spy on him. "How do we know you won't turn on us?" Sups: "I guess you'll just have to trust me!" lol, yeah right...

It ends with the US military and probably some earthlings coming around to accepting superman as a friend, but not completely. Obviously, this kind of dude will still have his skeptics (shit, look at RL earthlings: a not-insignificant amount of Americans truly believe that our own president is a secret muslim with magical powers bent on dismantling the country and the world. People are not only fearful by nature: THEY ARE FUCKING DUMB)

MoS is about as perfect of a Superman story as you can hope for, and in a film no less. It captures the alien that is superman, and the fact that earth never really needed him until his actual existence attracted the kind of danger that only he can fight. ....kinda profound as far as superhero derp-stories go.

This alien demigod stranger demolished Manhattan, defending it from related demigod evil assholes. Why wouldn't at least half of the earth population assume that it wouldn't take much to convince Superman that he might as well decide to become their supreme ruler? Hell, they never trusted Batman and all he can do is punch and kick.

Clearly, Batman, seeing himself as nothing but a good guy, thinks he is the only person that would ever be capable of stopping this demigod before he truly does go all evil. It makes sense within its own world.

I liked it. I think they set up a good premise for why they would fight and also how Wonder Woman integrated into the story. I can see where some people would have faults with it, but I over all enjoyed it.

I'm not saying you're not as I haven't seen it yet but every review I've read has said the exact opposite of what you've said.
 
Slow, boring and full of Sons of Anarchy moments. Afleck is great as Batman,
but his motivations don't seem normal and there is a confusing plot point around that that I'm not familiar with enough to know why. I don't mind the character development. I thought the subplot of Superman was actually a really good take on the idea, but much of it felt like he just needed to actually TALK publicly and much of it would have been avoided. His stance on Batman was also a flawed point.

While I don't have issues with Jesse Eisenburg, he is not the right actor to play Lex Luthor.

All in all 6/10 - I would say it is less interesting than Age of Ultron.

I even passed going to the last star wars myself.

Just didn't look good to me.

The wife went with her sister.

I've gotten over that "look a *insert name*" thing myself, for the most part, especially if it is a franchise.

Just got back from seeing it. The preview night for Deadpool at the same theater at about the same time I saw BvS had more people for what it is worth.

imo it's average with good parts in it. Seeing as it was based on MoS I shouldn't have expected much more considering the foundation it is built upon.

Zack Snyder is a good action director but his story telling skills aren't as good as his visual directing style. It probably doesn't help that he had to cut some 20-30 minutes from the original edit.

I'm hoping that when the Blu-Ray with the extended cut (which I hear runs almost 3 hours compared to the theatrical 2 hrs 30 mins.) is released it ends up being better than what I saw in the theater.

Kingdom of Heaven was average in the theater but the director's cut is actually good. Maybe it'll be that way for BvS

Unless the Russo Brothers mess up Civil War it'll be better. Even if it is only about 75% as good as their previous Marvel movie Winter Soldier, Civil War should garner a better response. I really wanted this movie to be good too. Home Run comic book movies ensure the genre last longer. BvS unfortunately wasn't a home run.

Batman v. Superman 5.5/10 - My group of 6 people all were left saying "meh". Only like 2 of the action scenes were good. Also if you saw the infamous trailer you saw the entire movie.

Also my 7pm showing was pretty empty. I'd say about 70% full.
 
Usually with the wide disparity between critic and user scores, I tend to side with the users for the most part. But by reading at some of the reviews on both sides, I take it that the DC fanboys came out of the woodwork to hype this movie up?

Marvel had a head start and that first movie was directed by someone who while not a stunning visual stylist is a director who usually had no problems with structuring a story.

Even some comics fans who are critics were disappointed.

Case in point the director of "The death of Superman Lives, What happened" John Schnepp is a knowledgeable comic book fan and was disappointed.

^That is a Spoiler review but John Schnepp who is a comic-book nerd explains why he has issues with the movie and I agree... it started with the writing... it wasn't good.

Matt Achity, who helps run Rotten Tomatoes and does reviews for the Youtube channel "What the Flick" is at least a casual comic book fan and he was disappointed.

It's not all just casuals who have no knowledge of comic books the movies are based on who are not raving about the movie.

I think the easiest way to put it is that Ben Affleck as Batman is really the least wrong with this movie. And since that was the biggest issue people had prior to the trailers, that says a lot. As a dumb movie, it is ok, but its just been done so much better. That being said, I liked this probably more than TDKRises although I saw some obvious comparisons to why I didn't like them that much.

The Ben Affleck backlash was stupid in the first place. He's a great actor.
