Maybe if you're under 18. Original Keaton Batman is a very good movie. And that's not an unpopular sentiment.

Keaton's Batman was significant at the time because it was the first "non-campy" superhero movie. Before that, the only exposure people had to superhero movies was Superman, when for some reason the movie writers thought had to have a laugh a minute.

It was a total surprise, the art direction was something completely new (in fact, the Art Deco style was SO new and ingenious that it was copied for a lot of other TV shows and movies, most notably the Flash TV show).

Since all superhero movies are now serious (well...ironically...except for the last two 90's Batman movies), people come to expect a good quality action flick. 1989 Batman is in the hearts of the 30-40 somethings because it started a whole new era of movies.

Bale is the result of an awesome script and him being a great character actor. He doesn't quite have the look for me though. I always thought someone a bit more bulky and with a deeper voice would have been a better choice.

I like the new movies, but Bales voice kills it for me. I cannot take him seriously. I am alright with him not being bulkier, but I agree that someone with a deeper voice would have been better, so he didn’t have to sound like a basset hound gargling the acid from the Two-Face incident.

Because of this I have to put the Keaton movie ahead of Begins, then TDK(overrated anyway)
