I played Arkham Knight. What game were y'all playing?

It did not feel like a batman game at all. Seriously. They forced you to drive the batmobile way too often. There weren't even any proper batman boss fights. The villains were either taken out in one shot or functioned like any other thug in the game. I was expecting to have an epic clash with all the villains and instead you pretty much win by default except for the tank battles which were outright boring and uninspired for me. Also the forced batmobile platforming really ruined the flow of the game.

Well, I finished it. Not all the riddler stuff (still not sure I'm going to keep it and finish those) but I captured Scarecrow and did every other side mission to completion.

It was a fun game, I enjoyed it enough to do all of the side missions. Biggest issues were already mentioned... there's no good climax to any of the side missions. None of the villains ever felt like a threat and they were all captured too easily. They were just shoehorned in there because they were recognized. It didn't really matter who was behind all the bank robberies, but it's Batman so you might as well say Two Face is in on it and have him show up on the last mission. But he was pretty much just a skin on a regular grunt because he went down just as easily. On the plus side the riddler challenges I've done were actually pretty clever and seem better designed than the ones from previous games. It's kind of a bummer most of them probably won't be touched because I don't see many people going after all ~250 of them.

The good part of the main story was Batman losing his mind. Without that the central story was pretty lackluster.

I just finished it today. Not 100% since I didn't want to spend 6+ hours hunting riddler trophies to see a special ending that I could just watch on youtube. I thought it was a good game weighed down by some poor decision making.

The first and most obvious was the overuse of the batmobile. It's like rocksteady was so proud they got the batmobile in the game that they made the player spend a third of the game in it. It honestly felt like about half the game I was in there. The batmobile itself was decent but not great and I grew tired of the tank battles and driving sequences. I rather have used it mostly to drive around gotham and solve the occasional puzzle and maybe one or two epic battle/driving sequences with a few minor ones to get the controls down.

I never liked hunting for riddler trophies and having to get them all to get the 100% ending seems like a lot of bloat. Rather than following the same formula as the previous games I rather they cut them down to around 30 well thought out puzzles or just make a sidquest of something like 8 longer puzzles to solve.

The identity of the Arkham Knight was disappointing. I thought it would be who it turned out to be even though I've barely read any Batman comics and just know about the history through Wikipedia. The absence of any real boss battles was missed.

Overall I think it's worth playing but could have been a lot better. Other than the batmobile there hasn't been much of an evolution of the game since the last and it mostly feels like a next gen version of the Arkham series.

Finished with everything 100%. Loved it. I like the redhood missions too. Nice to see people die.

I'm at 85% overall. Riddler is something like 50%. I want to get to 100% and be done with it. Might actually get teh previous game for my 360. This game is that good.

It is like the best TV show (with story arc) you have seen but in video game format.

I finally installed this game. Performance is perfect. FPS limited to 90, but that's a reasonable limit. One GPU is dedicated to PhysX and it really helps and I can see that GPU being used during smoke effects and other stuff. No lag of any kind and the game looks great. Too bad it didn't launch like that. The game almost never goes below around 75fps or so, so performance is great with a single GPU running the graphics while maxed out.
I suck at the game and can't figure out how to use all the moves and take downs and all that crap, but its a nice game.

So I started this again on PS4 pro to finish it. On my 4k tv everything looks grainy and the graphics are crappy. Not sure why, as other games that are 1080p on this tv look fine. Almost makes me want to go get it cheap on PC so I can enjoy it but I'm about 19% done.

I remember playing it on a 1080p tv when it came out and it just looked nice and smooth, graphics looked good. Not sure what is going on, but I don't think they patched it to scale correctly.

The game on pc is a disaster even after numerous patches. Don’t bother lol.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. I figured at least it would look better on PC. On the 4k tv on my PS4 pro it's just grainy and blurry which is odd because very other game that was not patched to up scale to 4k looks fine and clear.

So Arkham Knight wasn't patched for 4K on PS4 or Xbox? I played it on my Xbox two years ago, then deleted it and never bothered finishing it a hundred percent for that real ending. Watched that on YT instead. :/

I guess not. That's my only explanation of why it looks the way it does. I remember playing it few years ago and it did not look like this at all. Tried other games to make sure it wasn't my tv. Apparently the other Batman games were patched to scale to 4k.

Seeing people play it on large TV's on YouTube it looks fine but on my TV it doesn't look nice and clear.

Have you tried setting the output to 1080p on the PS4? Maybe there’s a weird bug in that game.

Actually I think I figured out why it looked so weird. I have a Sony 55XBR850D and for some reason the HDMI 1 picture mode was set to HDR Video. Apparently I never noticed anything strange in other PS4 games but this one it seems that the HDR picture mode makes everything way too saturated and grainy. I have to change the picture mode to standard for it to look smooth.

But you can really see the rain effects in the hdr picture mode, it just kind of makes everything else too dark and everything that has lights way too saturated.

I have no idea how it actually got into that mode.
I never changed it myself. I thought the tv goes into hdr on it's own as I've seen it do this in Netflix and last of us remastered, and god of war. I have the HDMI set to enhanced and hdr settings on the PS4 pro enabled too.

I wonder if leaving the picture mode to standard on hdmi 1 will screw it up for games that actually will scale to 4k.

The mode it was in is simulated hdr. It attempts to recreate the look of HDR video when fed an SDR signal. I hate those modes myself.
