The Unreal engine is showing its beauty in this one. However I'm starting to think every game based on the Unreal engine has to have the dark gloom look like Bioshock had. Needless to say though the graphics in the game are really not important but the engine does a real good job setting the mood.

It's been awhile since I had so much fun kicking the crap out of the AI! Even though it's a action game, I really wish FPS would make it this fun to engage in combat. Controlling the combat has never been easier on a PC as well. A few taps on the left click, counter on the right, stun in the center! Perfect! Non of this street fighter impossible to remember combo crap! The animations did all the work for you, but it gives you a overall satisfying feeling that you just laid a villain out.

They also did a really good job on story. Not too corny, not too childish, and not overbearing. You actually hate every villain in the game and feel a sense of empathy to the victims. Though the important part the designers kept in mind that it's just a game, and not a playable movie.

The game play elements in this game are really thought out, work well, and fit snuggly into the flow of the game. Like how you're locked in a room with villain and the floors become electrified or when you have to take out the lead guy of a gang controlling the fate of the lives of two hostages before you take out the others. The game has a good combination of stealth and action , but neither one over complicated or as ridiculous as other recent titles I can think of. Thought out and planned game play elements like this took the game from a good game to a great game on my score card.

I really think this game is a underrated gem for this year. Where the hell is the rave and ranting about it?

The game's definitely not underrated. It's gotten rave reviews, has been praised as the best comic book game of all time, and the console versions topped sales charts for several weeks. I thought it was just ok. I think Assassin's Creed did a better job when it comes to beating up the AI and prancing around the game world. The atmosphere was good but I didn't think the story was particularly compelling.

I'm really starting to NOT like the Unreal Engine...all characters look fake and plasticy...the faces are okay but the rest of their bodies don't look good at all. Just my opinion.

Underrated? You should check out CG every once in a while... everybody loves it. Looking at metacritic you can see all the official reviews that love it. It's not underrated, you just haven't looked very hard.

I got this coming in from Amazon, hopefully this week, took them forever to ship it out. Would you recommend just using keyboard/mouse or use a XBOX 360 controller?

I agree that some of the post processing effects are a bit played out. I got to the point where I welcomed any scene that had color variations in it. Great game though. Finished it last night. Found all 240 riddles without help from the Internet as the Riddler implied.

Definitely use the 360 controller.

At least not in the outlets I have looked. The word-of-mouth buzz doesn't seem to be there as it were with Bioshock or dare I mention HL2. Either the name is not big enough or not a big enough fan base for comic book heroes.

Yeah, it's really easy to get the hang of it. I would say 20 minutes and you would have it mastered. The cam angles switch some times during some action sequences, but no controller in the world will help in that case.

Whoa, I'm still going through story mode. Half way through but I love it. It's easily one the best games I've played in a long time. I'm glad I picked it up and also glad it works well with the PC controls.

The bloom does tend to be over exaggerated. Come to think of it, the Unreal engine like thilan29 said tends to over exaggerate everything. The wild card in the game was the Joker. What a work of beauty his character was. In terms of character detail, I think they pushed the engine to its limits with both the Joker and his "girlfriend" (forgot her name).

Mirror's Edge uses Unreal Engine 3 and looks nothing like the "typical" UE3 game. Don't blame the engine, blame lazy game developers who don't put much effort into unique visuals.

I think the game is great, the atmosphere is perfect, dark and creepy. Great taunting from the 'J-man' and Harley... Good luck with Bane...
Mouse + Keyboard for me.

THey used the original voices from Batman: THE ANIMATED SERIES ... one of my favorite animated shows of all time.

And they capture the gothic/cartoony feel of batman ... they could have tried to make this a game version of the newer movies.

I Have to say though, the scarecrow sequences just annoy me.

Yeah, the scarecrow sequences (at least after the initial one) feel anti-climactic. But I think they are fitting. I mean, how else would he "fight" with you unless you were jacked up on hallucinogens and reeling in confusion? The coolest part is when you come back to reality somewhere else in the building and surrounded by fallen goons that looked "monsterish" in your hallucinations.

I still want to get my hands around his neck, but I'll settle for what I currently get. I'm 50% through the story, first time.

Good to know, I saw a video with lots of moves beating up everyone and crossed my mind if a controller would be better or not. Only controller I have is an old Microsoft Sidewinder but doubt that would make a cut. Keyboard & mouse is it then.

Its OK, but not mind-blowing. Almost like Thief or Deus Ex but the game play is a little more annoying.
Game is fun but I wont buy it anytime soon. Will wait until its cheaper.

I thought it was well worth the price of admission. I would gladly rather give Rocksteady 60 dollars for Batman than give Activision 60 for MW 2.

Anyone here fairly good at the DLC challenge called Totally Insane (I think that's the name)? The instructions say to KO a thug on the ground when you knock them down so they stop dropping into the room. But I almost never have a chance to do so without getting punched in the back of the neck when I kneel for a ground KO. By the time the room gets really crowded it's essentially bed time for B-man. I only get up to around 6,000 points or so and that's with a dose of luck.

Pretty good game, enjoyed it, a little bit short, but it gets a thumbs up from me.

Anyone know if there are issues of reselling the retail version? If not, I'll pop it up on Amazon pretty cheap.

In the ops defense since review sites seem to be giving out 9s as a baseline a good game just being raved about is underrated : p
