I have a linksys DSL router, currently with 3 systems connected. However, I have not set up any sort of home network yet. Two of the systems use XP and the one connected to the DSL Modem/router has 98SE (long lazy story).
My problem: I need to transfer a large file from one of the XP systems to my 98SE system, in the simplest manner possible. When I go to "network neighborhood" I do not "see" either of the other two XP machines. I have file sharing turned on in my 98 machine. How do I enable my system to "see" the other XP system(s) so that I can transfer the file? Hopefully without jumping through too many hoops. I have considered a direct USB connection but figured that since I already have the router installed I might as well use it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Jack. I think I got it figured out. I went to the XP machine and into Control Panel. There I opened the Networka and Internet connections folder. I started the process to create a small home network "Using your existing connection". After a few more clicks and a reboot I was able to go back to the 98 machine, turn off ZoneAlarm and there it was!!
The reason this was so important was that I just (re)built a system for my stepson and created a "Files and Settings Transfer" folder and a Drive Image file for it. Problem was that it has no CDRW with which to copy these to a media that he can use in case of an emergancy reload. Now I am able to copy the Image file and the F&S Transfer file to my system and record to a CD. Instant backup disks. Now he can use either the Drive Image to completely restore or do an OS reload and use the F&S transfer info to get the general look and feel of the system back.
Thanks for your help.
