Its political correctness, he didn't do anything wrong, he didn't say to kill them.

He probably violated some MLB rule... which I am too lazy to look up. Doesn't matter what he said... he signed a contract to abide by certain behaviors. In this case it may seem like political correctness... but sponsors pay a shit ton of money to the MLB and get to exercise some control over the environment in which their products are seen.

He is free to say whatever he wants... on his own time.

As a Torontonian and part owner of the Blue Jays, I vote that he be suspended for the rest of the season by the team. And this thread has made me decide to write an e-mail to the team saying as much, thanks for the inspiration!

I want to actually thank Incorruptible, for actually being a shining ass example for exactly the sort of shit that is wrong with this country.

Your willful ignorance and lack of fundemental understanding of our constitutional rights is astounding.

I would submit that it is you who misunderstands free speech.

This mythical notion of "the right to not be offended" baffles me.

No such "right" exists. What people are really implying with the "right to not be offended" is wanting to silence whatever is perceived as offensive. That certainly flies in the face of the concept of free speech as we know it.

No what your saying is you want to limit the employers rights, while protecting the employees.

Wow for a nanosecond I actually wondered if the troll was actually expressing outrage AT the baseball player because of the angry face emoticon in the header...of course it's not the case 😉

He has the right to write whatever the hell he wants to on his face, just not while at work like the rest of us.

Actually that's not quite right. He still has the freedom to write what he wants even at work under freedom of speech. However, freedom of speech does not also equal freedom of consequence for that speech. That seems to be what AlreadyCorrupted is missing here.

Thats cool then it should be no problem for you to film yourself parading around the workplace with anti gay slogans written on your face in spanish.

They could fire you if you work in an at-will state, or if your employee handbook or contract has something in there with regard to "hate-speech".

While "hate-speech" is not actionable in most circumstances (see gov't official telling his african american secretary she is a "jungle bunny" and the intentional infliction of emotional distress) and quite a few judges have stated that we need a thick skin to function in society, freedom of speech means freedom from prosecution; not freedom of speech without consequence.

E.G. If I state "I hate Jews" and then my Jewish friends stop hanging out with me, does that mean my freedom of speech has been infringed upon? I don't think so.

He used his freedom of speech, now his employer will do the same.

Love the ignorant OP thread backfire. Troll on ...

Dont be too harsh, he's probably in Grade 9.
