lets see how many people are going to * the players named in teh report, esp. after everyone wants to * Bonds

Why would it be any different? If someone cheated, I don't think they deserve to have their "records" recognized.

I do think Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame (unless he also cheated). I think it's absurd that the penalty for gambling is far more than the penalty for cheating in baseball.

This is why Pete is not in...

"Voting shall be based upon the player's record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played."
http://web.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers/bbwaa.jsp

He bet while mangaing a team in baseball. I fell his records and stats should stand but he does not fit the profile and rules for being in the HoF. The HoF is not just about records, even though most think it is. For that reason I do not think he should be in. Of course neither should Bonds.

It doesn't mention "team coached". He should be in by the merits of his playing.

Interesting arguments, I'm torn on this one but I definitely feel his records as a player should stand as they do.

If this doesn't give hd-dvd and huge advantage over blue-ray, I'm not sure what will. I think hd-dvd is finally going to win.

This list was a terrible idea. Now everybody is going to think we have a nice set of names of who's guilty and who's not. We can latch onto guys like Clemens and Pettite and forget that steroids are most likely used by hundreds of players whose names don't appear on the list.
For Selig to utter the words "comprehensive report" today was a sham, but totally what you'd expect from him. What I get out of this report is that pretty much whoever was unlucky enough to be among the circle of people that came in contact with Radomski and McNamee is screwed today.

What about guys who would seemingly be comfortable circulating within or having direct contacts in Mexico and Latin American countries where you can literally buy steroids at Walmart? I kinda notice a lack of such names on this list.

That was the first thing I thought of when his name was leaked early this morning.

It gives baseball a starting point to clean up the game, and it's far better this way then to continue pretending nothing wrong ever occurred.

And it's not just the players, I'd like to see owners take a good deal of the punishment too.

It's truly a sad day for MLB when the most trustworthy man seems to be Jose Canseco... 😛

The best way to do that is to not buy tickets to the game. BTW Attendance of MLB has set records 4 years in a row.

Based on the heresay of convicted felons and without due process?

The NFL is banning players who have not been convicted.

But if we could look at what evidence George Mitchell has, I'm sure it's more than just hearsay. I can't recall who it was but a few months ago hit the news that documents were obtained showing one baseball player paid for over 1,000 doses of HGH with his credit card. Almost want to say it was a pitcher on the Indians and announced during the playoffs?

I would bet the farm they have documents linking many of the listed players to actual purchases. The investigation got a hold of people like the Mets trainer who didn't just see or aid in steroids or hgh, but sold them. Probably some records uncovered there. They also got a hold of a doctor who was writing HGH prescriptions for athletes for bogus "injuries". How can a doctor properly diagnose a patient he's never met? Paper trail there too linking athletes names and purchase records.

On violating it's drug policy? They have to fasil a test for that to happen

If he did it after it was banned then he should be suspended.

How about Clemens and Petite? All you have against them is hearsay without any evidence what so ever.

I think they should do what Mitchell rcommended, no punishment unless it's extremely egregious.

What are you saying, that since steroid testing began in 2002, the years since MLB has set attendance records? Sounds like a step in the right direction. But owners still should take blame in all this. I don't know what the answer is, but I'm sure it's not all on the players.

Dismiss an entire investigation because you don't particularly like seeing two of the names? Do you watch ESPN 24/7? Just curious. 😛

Its true though... All of this is hearsay. Where is the tangible evidence? The source is hardly reliable. He could have pulled any number of names out of a hat and claimed they did or didnt use steroids. MLB paid Mitchell over $50m to compile this report. Did anyone HONESTLY think he would come back and say "Yep all the players are clean; MLB is good to go!" He obviously had to make a splash, had to use some big name players in the report.

I'm not saying it is or it isnt true, but until I see some ACTUAL proof, I am skeptical about the whole report.

Baseball players who cheat should be fired and obviously removed from hall of fame, etc.
If somebody intentionally cheated on an exam in college and got a perfect score, should they get to keep their perfect score? Of course not, they should at the very least fail the course and IMO in most cases should probably be expelled from that academic institution.
Cheating is cheating, it's never acceptable in any amount in any situation.

True, but cheating is only cheating when it's against the rules. There were no specific rules in place as far as MLB goes. The law is another matter.

maybe i'm in the minority, i dont' think 'juiced' is cheating.

the person is still using his own body to do all those things. if i'm on juice 24/7, i still can't hit shit.

let's just legalize steroid and level the playing field.

Ahh.....the joy of being a die-hard Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

15 straight losing seasons!!!

We KNOW that none of our guys were juicing or that streak would have been stopped a long time ago.

Just breezing through report several ex pirates were mentioned, Denny Neagle, Kevin Young, Jose Gullien (I think he played for the pirates at one time.) are the ones an come up with right off the top of my head.

Umm, ex-Pirate, umm, let's see..............oh yeah, Barry Bonds!

I don't think it matters - Tejada's power has been down for a while. The Astros knew what they were getting.
