And it was a 3-run homer to go ahead in the game, too.

Congrats to Bonds. His numbers are really getting up there with the game's all-time greats.

Too bad his record is worthless because of the steroids.

Yeah, I think he used.

steroids dont make you hit for average as well as power do they?

mcguire did, no question.
bonds has that sweet short swing and can actually get other hits besides homers.

if they ever cut out of pti to show a meaningless homerun again i will boycott espn. if he's going to *pass* aaron's record then you can cut out...but when you are hitting to tie for third place they shouldn't cut out to show your ever at-bat.

Who cares though, why is 660 such a big number. Ya, its his God-Fathers but its not like its the all time record or anything.

ya, bonds is a tough call, most steroid users tend to break down quickly, bonds seems pretty durable when compared with the bash brothers. :)

I didn't say he bats well because of steroids, just that I think that that record is marred because steriods will increase the amount of homers.

Obviously he is in the top echelon of sluggers, even if he retired today, particularly since he had what many consider to be the greatest offensive season of all time.

I was just talking in terms of the HR record since that's what the thread is about, and he's still got two more years minimum to catch Aaron.
