Because the republican base is tired of electing RINOs
The bases of both parties are minorities.. with ideas and beliefs about as whacky as they come.

Ignoring everything you know about what the Kennedy's did after they got into public office, would you be willing to let Joe Kennedy head the SEC after the methods he used to make all his money? I am just trying to point out that if the whole country had thought that the way Kennedy made his money made him ineligible for public service, the Kennedy's would never have been able to do all those things you admire them for.
Neither one of them seem very impressive. If I could I'd run as an Independent on a platform of:
1. Cut taxes across the board
2. Reduce outrageous welfare spending
3. Increase border protection & anti-immigration enforcement
4. Eliminate Prop 8
5. Leagalize Marijuana
Nice platform. Too bad there are a bunch of idiots in the R and D camps who want some parts and actively thwart others. They hold all the power, unfortunately.
I lived in Anaheim for three years. California politics are insane. Starting being able to gather a bunch of sour grape losers to have a special recall election which they knew darn well would only bring out the motivated base so they couldn't lose, to remove Grey Davis just because they did not like his policies. That law was created only to remove polititians for breaking the law and malfeasance. Second, related to the above, is the proposition system only requiring a simple majority, and a taxing approval system requiring either 60 or 66 percent (can't remember) to pass.
Third although people think california is a liberal state, the right in the state is very extreme so there is no middle ground. Thus the insane grid-lock in the middle of a crisis that requires compromise to solve the financial morass.
Gray Davis was a fucking piece of shit who stole money from the education system to pay off prison guards and prisons for donating so much fucking money to his campaign. The guy was literally a fucking whore and your opinion is now shit no one should listen to because obviously an idiot spit it out.
Craig, you're a fucking goddamn piece of shit you know that? Joe Kennedy did some shitty shit, he was not a good father because no good father would lobotomize their fucking daughter just because she didn't act the way he wanted. That's a terrible fucking person who does shit like that and only people who are pieces of shit relate to assholes like that.
1) CA Prop 98 requires a certain percentage of the budget go towards education funding and also guarantees a certain percentage increase in the education funding each year. Unless schools were being funded above the minimum required level, I don't see how Davis was stealing funds from the education system.Gray Davis was a fucking piece of shit who stole money from the education system to pay off prison guards and prisons for donating so much fucking money to his campaign. 2) CA Prop 184 requires that offenders convicted of their 2nd felony offense have their sentence doubled if the first was serious and on the 3rd felony offense be locked up 25 to Life. Sounds good but what this did was cause the prison population to become overcrowded. Oops... unintended consequences strike again.

Gray Davis came in 1998 right? Sophomore in college already. Had siblings attending high school and middle school though. Were you in school when Gray Davis was in charge? Did you know anyone who went to public school when Gray Davis was running things? http://www.allbusiness.com/government/government-bodies-offices-heads-state/10628219-1.html
It was actually quite a big deal when I was in high school. I didn't go to some shitty small HS either, I went to a rather good high school in a rather good area.
I was paraphrasing what was stated on the page.I was under the impression that all felonies are serious crimes, thus classifying them as felonies in the first place. 😵
From a distance I would say most of California's problems are caused by it's voters and how easy it is for them to make illogical changes to their constitution and laws by propositions.
^ this. The proposition thing is ridiculous.

Boxer and Feinstein are a couple of the most effective senators in that body and both take care of California very well.

"Steve Cooley Has Opposed Safe Access in LA
Concerned California citizens have begun a campaign to educate voters about the candidates for state attorney general. While the AG rase typically gets little attention, the holder of the office holds enormous power of the implementation and enforcement of state medical cannabis laws. Democrat Kamala Harris, currently the San Francisco District attorney, is facing Republican Steve Cooley, the longest-serving district attorney in Los Angeles history.
Harris has said she favors creating state-wide regulations for the operation of dispensing cannabis collectives to ensure the uniform access the state legislature tried to create with its Medical Marijuana Program Act of 2003.
In contrast, Cooley says he interprets the law to say that no one can legally buy or sell medical cannabis in California, and he has repeatedly tried to undermine the operation of patient collectives in LA County. When the LA city council was creating regulations for dispensaries, Cooley denounced the council as "irrelevant," saying he would ignore anything they passed, and prosecute anyone operating a dispensary. His official spokesperson has even said that, if Cooley is elected attorney general, he may find "rare exceptions" to enforcing the law.
This should be no surprise, since as LA District attorney, Cooley participated in a "training" for the California Narcotics Officers Association aimed at "eradicating" dispensaries around the state.
Advocates for the environment, women's issues and marriage equality are also concerned about a Cooley win.
As DA, Cooley dismantled the environmental protection division of his office. And he has steadfastly opposed state efforts to protect the environment, urging the repeal of California's historic greenhouse initiative and supporting an initiative bankrolled by the state's biggest toxic polluters.
On women's issues he faces allegations of discrimination within his office, and his insensitivity is legend. At one university law forum, he publicly mocked state laws designed to protect women and children.
And while current attorney general, Jerry Brown, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger both declined to defend Prop 8, the measure that stripped marriage rights from same-sex couples, Cooley has said he would go to court to protect it. "
