but, but, but...that's not possible. no one brings guns to church. no needs guns anywhere...if you're in an area that is that bad, maybe you should move...

Note that no one had a gun...except the gunman and he was subdued by people without guns. Even if someone had a gun the chances of this being prevented are slim to none.

This is true.

I'm not being facetious, this is probably a pretty good time to die if you have to and you're a preacher. Should help a bit at the moment of judgement, I would think.

Yeah right. Someone walks up to your pastor so you whip it out and start blazing?

By the time you realized he had a gun it would be too late and then you'd have a shootout in a crowded room with more chance of hitting someone else with a stray bullet.

If god had wanted the priest not to get shot the gun would have jammed earlier.

vote for a BAN! Please!?!?!!

whats wrong with it? 😕
And he's dead now, supposedly in a place free of pain, in the eternal presence of God, forever and ever and ever.

What's there to be upset about?

Anyway, out of the land of magic, it is unfortunate that people still try solving minor problems and disagreements with violence.

There is nothing wrong with his statement. This is yet another example of God abandoning those who worship him/her/it. Now is the time to forsake God, and join my army.

What I'd like to find out was whether that gun was legally registered or not.

Oh I know that; like GodlessAstronomer, I was pointing out some of the anomalies in this thought process. Yes he was taken abruptly, but is he not in a far far better place than Earth? And his family would join him eventually; a human lifespan isn't even 0.00000000....1% of eternity.

I am going to hell I know it so flame me all you want all I know is that pic looks like it should have a pedo bear popping out behind him.

I know, I know. . .

Only he knows the answer to that question. I personally do not believe in an afterlife. When you die, you become worm food.

Yes he would have. A guy walking up to the pastor in a church isn't something that would make you suddenly pull out your gun and get ready to shoot. If he was planning on walking in and shooting somebody he'd be able get his gun out and a few shots off before people could react.

I usually don't find myself agreeing with Jules about religion, but to some extent I agree that even the most devoutly religious of people do not know exactly what happens when you die. Being religious doesn't negate the life you live on earth. There are still friendships to culture and a families to raise. Death (especially this way) is terrible regardless of what you believe, and has a tremendous effect on the people close to you.

This is true, but to be honest, Southern churches have more to fear from a good set of socket wrenches than firearms. There have been a lot of theives stealing AC units for the copper these past few years. People tend to think twice when firing off in a church.... I'm surprised that he didn't get rushed by the parishioners...

It's rude, but that's not reason for ban, I think. Other than that, he doesn't have a fucking clue about religion.

It's only offensive if YOU take offense. And, his point was that god didn't protect a priest from a bullet, how does that demonstrate ignorance about religion?

Maybe they should commit suicide, see above....

Maybe you ought to be a little more thoughtful before spewing ignorance about a tragedy.

Have a week off to think about it.

this can't be a serious post. How would our savior, the CCW permit holder, have known to shoot down the dude had the dude not shot and killed the minister first?

Because religion, at least Christianity in this case, doesn't make you invulnerable to harm. Never has, never will, never claimed. Anyone who makes a statement, as made above, demonstrates ignorance bred by bigotry.
