Yes he would have. A guy walking up to the pastor in a church isn't something that would make you suddenly pull out your gun and get ready to shoot. If he was planning on walking in and shooting somebody he'd be able get his gun out and a few shots off before people could react.

I usually don't find myself agreeing with Jules about religion, but to some extent I agree that even the most devoutly religious of people do not know exactly what happens when you die. Being religious doesn't negate the life you live on earth. There are still friendships to culture and a families to raise. Death (especially this way) is terrible regardless of what you believe, and has a tremendous effect on the people close to you.

This is true, but to be honest, Southern churches have more to fear from a good set of socket wrenches than firearms. There have been a lot of theives stealing AC units for the copper these past few years. People tend to think twice when firing off in a church....
