Not much penalty. Bannon won't care as his failure to appear was most likely an act of defiance, of which he was willing to pay the price for.
"Bailiff, whack his pee pee!"

When the repubs get control they can do the same kinds of things to the dems. Tits for Tats.

this isn't being done "to the repubs" you idiot. this is being done to people who took measures to overturn a peaceful transfer of power, which is a hallmark of a stable democracy, and one of the things that has made america unique.

the idea that it is some tit-for-tat game is so utterly preposterous it defies reality.

I haven't gone through any of his rulings BUT 2 things do stick out.
He may have clerked for Thomas and served in the Bush White House but the firm he headed off to after leaving the DOJ leaned heavily Democratic in their political contributions

What's interesting he that he seems to join the Federalist society when its politically convenient.
First go round was prior to joining the DOJ and then he was off the mailing list by 2008,
Then it looks like he signed up again in 2018 just in time to get on the GOP judge list to be handed to the White House.

"If convicted, Bannon faces a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of one year in jail, as well as a fine of $100 to $1,000. A federal district court judge will ultimately determine his sentence."
Actually, he is charged with two counts, so the maxmum is 2 years.

Unless he's stupid enough to opt for a jury trial, which is his right. But the sentence would then come down to how sympathetic a jury might be, or how much they might like him.

Better stick with the judge.

Bannon Caught Fleeing U.S. Disguised as Man Who Recently Took Shower

1636801494229.png

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Steve Bannon was caught attempting to flee the United States disguised as a man who had recently taken a shower, T.S.A. officials have confirmed.

A T.S.A. agent at Reagan National Airport, Harland Dorrinson, explained how Bannon’s talent as a master of disguise nearly enabled him to board a plane to Moscow.

“He showered, shaved, and even combed his hair,” Dorrinson said. “He was totally unrecognizable.”

Bannon’s plan crumbled, however, during a routine pat down. “That’s when we noticed that his pants had a large mustard stain,” the T.S.A. agent said. “They evidently had not been laundered in months. One of my colleagues shouted, ‘It’s Bannon! Stop him!’ ”

Taken into custody, the former White House adviser seemed bitter about his foiled escape attempt. “I took a shower for no fucking reason,” he said.

There was a coup attempt and all you can think about is your political sports team. (Which incidentally is the one that attempted the coup)

There is a way the work of the Jan 6 commission can be preserved. If the Republicans take over the house by vote in Nov appoint a special counsel with full authority and subpoena powers before Jan 2023. The incoming Congress won't be able to disband it ala John Durham

So there is the off chance that Bannon *wants* to go to jail, martyrdom-light if you will, for a couple of years... getting back out just in time for 2024.

On the other hand if Bannon drags this out, trial and whatever truths surfaces in that context is gonna hit the campaigns for the midterms.

So what is Bannon gonna do? Is he gonna do him or be a teamplayer for the GQP?

Do him?
Be a teamplayer for GQP?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA He is gonna tank the midterms for the R so hard.

His aversion to water is puzzling to me as the douchebag always looks like Nick Offerman's corpse pulled from a lake.

They might have to go this route, trump and his band of traitors will challenge everything in court even though all will fail it will extend it enough to go past the midterms.

There was an armed insurrection and attempted coup and you just want to let that slide?

Even with a special prosecutor, republicans will block everything especially if trump regained control.

It might be the saddest, lowest day in US history if trump is somehow able to gain the WH again, my thinking is a lot of people will not want that kind of drama again and he will fall well short. One thing's for sure, this crazy inflation is gonna hurt the Dems at the midterm's, even though there was little Biden can do he will take the blame for all of it.

I sincerely doubt economic conditions a year prior to the election will mean much.

Sentence is waaaaaaay too lenient.
Should be jailed until you testify.
