I can see why the Mods did what they did, but it would've been nice if the thread crappers got a warning or better yet a bit of a vacation.

My thing is:

Your a paid member ($30). So therefore, you aren't using the forum for free.

You post a Hot Deal in the Hot Deals forum. You write in the title, "do not crap ABOUT the religion." What more is there to say?

That thread WAS a Hot Deal.

Just like the membership, there is a diverse group of opinions among the moderators. But, we don't "quarrel", we discuss.

Maybe some people don't realise, there is no free speech issue here. This is a private forum. The only issue is what the forum rules are. If any of us don't like it we can leave (or be kicked off).

Fairness, you say? Everybody thinks they are right. Shall we argue about who is right? Why waste time.
If a heated discussion in a bar turns into a brawl, it's then no longer a matter of what were they talking about. It becomes a matter of "Not in here".
I see no difference. Why should the bar tender waste his/her time being a referee?

Why not start a form titled" ritualistic paraphernalia" and all the lucky charms, rabbit footsies, cross, bibles and the rest can be peddled??:)

If I offer up a hot deal on free Republican, Democrat, or Whatever literature on the HD forums, what do you think will happen?
Do you think the only responces will be "Thanks"? Get real.
And stop your whining==sheesh, give it a rest!

Which is exactly why the thread crappers should've gotten extended vacations. "Thread crapping is an obvious abuse and it wasn't the Christians in the thread that were doing it.

Seems pretty clear to me.

I doubt seriously that any of the mods have a problem with the religious themed posts. They have a problem with the fact that every time one gets posted, it turns into a flame war. I agree however that they should be banning the offending members and not the posts though.

Links were listed that had been flamed. Why not cull through those threads and hand out a batch of vacations for blatant disregard for others? Post a temporary sticky listing who got the boot and why and let ev'one know that next time the vacation might be a little more permanent.

How difficult is it to *not* comment on something like that? *shaking head*
If ppl'd act like grown-ups instead of puerile little buttnuggets, maybe the mods wouldn't have to be holdin' ev'ones' hands all the time!

So called 'Free Speech' loses again....of course everyone knows 'Free Speech' is only for pornography and GOD forbid any thread with the word 'God' in it....THAT might offend someone....:disgust:

I have been coming to this forum for quite a few years and got some really good deals. As for this subject I see no difference between the moderators and the thread crappers. I have one word for both of you losers, GOODBY!!!

Luckster..... so you expect me to believe that the anandtech guys who run these boards GET NOTHING out of it? I am sure there is advertising revenue coming in plus plently of "Freebie" hardware to test (and some sent just as promos). So the "they are sooo nice for providing this" lecture won't fly.

Someone posted how the crappers had 1 point, the legit folks had 0 from this, well that's not exactly true. I don't blame the thread crappers for anything (they are like bad weather, it's gong to happen SO DEAL WITH IT!). The ones who ended up getting this thread moved here and banned from the hot deals forum are all the guys and girls whohad to REPLY to the thread crappers. If you ignore them they eventually go away. If you reply you humor them and give them the attention they can't get anyplace else. The end result is some powermoderator with the iron fist relegates this deal (and that is a great deal) to the off topic forum.

Thinlizzie

P.S. Oh and as for the public park guy - get a life, this is a .com address, last I heard those were for people who wanted to do business in the good ole U.S. of A., and in this country people are extended some basic freedoms of which is speech. That isn't to say the mods have to extend that to all of us, but from an ethical perspective you would want to mirror the government you live under.

Just because I spend my time here, I don't feel like I'm owed anything for my time. I play ball at YMCA or at the parks a lot, but I don't feel like I'm owed anything from them either.

They are "sooooo nice" to have provided the forum". Have you done such a thing?

Anyone who has seen my posts knows I'm not into religion, at all. In fact, someone mentioned my early rounds on the forums with Netopia, who is very into his religious beliefs. You might want to think about what he had to say on this before you start whipping up more brainless firestorms.

OTOH, you can do a search and find that religious threads are going on in OT, all the time, and the only time they get locked is when it goes from discussion (even very strong discussion) to butt ugly flaming. You may even find that even though I may joke about religion, I don't knock anyone's right to believe as they choose.

Russ -- << You can thank the atheist bigots who cannot pass up any opportunity to attack anyone and anything that even hints at Christianity. >>

So your blast at atheists is any better? Sorry, amigo, but there has been enough hatred and stupidity from believers and non-believers, alike, to keep the world in flames for centuries. Pick your belief. They all have histories of brain dead attacks on those who don't agree with them, anyone from Osama to Fallwell, to the Inquisition to the thick-headed leadership of Isreal, today, to Catholics and Protestants in Ireland, to.... etc. etc. etc.

It's not going to stop until people give up on the idea that any religion is better than any other, as long as those who practice it aren't hurting anyone. That includes us atheists.
