Cake sucks. It's not even music. The 'singer' doesn't sing, he talks.

Cake is the late-90's and 2000's version of William Shatner's spoken word career.

I remember when Cake opened for No Doubt in 1997 or 1998 (I think it was 1998). Everyone who saw that show agreed that Cake was a giant "WTF?!?". Then someone, somewhere decided they had talent, all my friends suddenly liked Cake and I was left yelling "Nothing changed! They still suck you posers!".

Yeah, and No Doubt is the epitome of talent 😉

This is actually a tough question. Most of my favorites go back many years, and have a few duds on the way.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor, as well as the splinter groups
Sigur Rós
Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller... None of the bigbands made crap :^)
Pink Floyd
Ronnie Earl
Planxty
Mazzy Star
The Pogues
Stevie Ray Vaughn

There's some more, but either the catalogs too small, I don't have *every* album, or I just forgot :^D

Led Zeppelin
Incubus
Van Halen - pre Red Rocker, I'm not a hater but I can't say I love 3+ entire albums of his
Pink Floyd
Pearl Jam
Rage Against the Machine
Radiohead
Cake
A Perfect Circle - I'd love to list Tool as well, but I'm just not into them as much
Tesla
Smashing Pumpkins
Garth Brooks - HELL YES
Eric Clapton - Of course
Stevie Ray Vaughan

I really wanted to add Boston to the list, because their self-titled album is in my top 3 albums of all time, but they had 2 just really terrible albums of 4 total I think?

Tool
The Beatles
Jane's Addiction
Portishead
Alice In Chains
NIN
Charlie Parker
Frank Sinatra
The Mars Volta
Jaco Pastorius
Sonic Youth
Bob Dylan
The Smashing Pumpkins (is Billy, Jimmy, D'Acry, & James)
Miles Davis
Led Zeppelin
Incubus
Pink Floyd (must have Roger or it's not PF)
White Zombie

Hey, I never said they were great. There's also a reason that Cake opened for them and not the other way around.

Because they were on their way up and No Doubt were on their way down 😛
You've also experienced woefully little of their catalog if you haven't heard any of the songs that feature actual singing.

HaHa. I was thinking the exact same thing! (except MLoR is still a good album, but Floyd really isn't the same without Roger.)

KMFDM, Alice in Chains, System of a Down, Soundgarden, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, Mindless Self Indulgence, perhaps Depeche Mode.

Interesting.

and here I thought you were more the Huey Lewis and Phil Collins kind of guy....

Well my music collection is very tiny since I stream most of it. Although I can say that with very few exceptions, I generally don't like all of an album, here are some favorite artists based on how much a good portion of their music appeals to me in general:

3 Doors Down
AC/DC
Aerosmith
Bon Jovi
Collective Soul
Creed
Disturbed
Five Finger Death Punch
Godsmack
Guns N' Roses
Led Zeppelin
Linkin Park
Metallica
Nickelback
Queen
Randy Travis
Three Days Grace
Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Others...
