This set of 'movies' are really hard to understand..would it have killed them to
put ENGLISH subtitles ?...Among all the explosions, accents, etc...we could hardly make out
what everyone was talking...bits and pieces here and there...not enjoying the movie because of this...realy lame.
Really bummed out... Just finished 1st dvd and starting on second...almost totally lost :(
i wonder if the VHS ver would have the english subtitles :disgust:

BoB was the best war series ever. By the 10th episode you will get to know everyone well enough, then you get to see who they really are. Great stuff.

LOL I saw this on cable and understood everything. Are you sure your home theatre system is setup correctly? (center speaker for voice only)

I saw most of it on cable, then bought the DVDs. I have to admit, it's really really good. I was expecting a whole lot of American flag waving that seems to be typical of most of the newer war movies, but this had very little of that at all. It was mostly about the men and the people they encountered, not about US vs Germany or anything like that.

I watched the DVD's a few months ago, had no problem whatsoever. Turn your sub down, turn the treble up

I think you need to do one of 2 things;

1) Check your audio settings for DVD Playback (either on your PC DVD-ROM or on your DVD Player)
2) Get a new sound system

I've watched every episode and never had a problem making out any of the dialog... Are you going deaf?

Hmm... gunfire and explosions obscuring the speech. How horrible...

I personally think it's the best WW2 series out there.

How the hell can you not understand what they're saying??? Is English not your first language? Do you have a hearing disability? Does your sound system suck?

At any rate, you use Closed Captioning if you want text in the language you're listening to. And BoB has Closed Captioning. I know, because my GF's Grandfather (a WWII veteran) needed it because he's hard of hearing.

BTW, a hint if you're having trouble with dialog on a 5.1 system: Turn up the center channel.

It DOES come with subtitles. As others have said, it's called closed captioning. I'm actually in the middle of watching it again; one of the greatest series ever.

Agreed. Sometimes you miss important bits of dialogue and the only way you can really "hear" it is via subtitles or CC

i use subtitles when i crank the speed:p windvd 4 lets you playback at up to 2x with sound. sometimes you slip and you need to read what you missed:)

don'tthink cc works on software dvd though. prefer subs over cc, cleaner on screen.

WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION PRIVATE PILE!?!?!

Wrong movie. Good quote though.

Yeah but David Schwimmer was a pussy-ass drill sgt.

No, he was the company commander (Capt). There are c.o.'s that think they're drill instructors though, from personal experience.

Interesting fact is that Band of Brothers premiered on Sept, 9th 2001 -- ouch. It really hurt ratings because not many people were in the mood to see war after 9/11.
