I have almost unlimited supply of bananas. they pretty much grow everywhere. well at least where Im staying. I usually eat 1-2 bananas before my early AM workout. Then since there is so many bananas around, i usually snack on them, and by the end of the day, i probably eaten a hands worth of bananas. thats probably about 8-10 bananas. I figured, since they're a fruit, its good for you....until i looked at the nutrition fact for 1 cup of smashed banana.

200 calories? 17% total carbs? god damn. if I eat 10 bananas throughout the day, thats 2000 calories on TOP of my daily 3000 calorie intake.

Maybe im looking at it wrong. Am I messing up calorie intake by eating all these bananas?

To be fair, you were looking at the nutrition facts for 1 cup mashed of banana, which is quite a bit more than a single banana. Your typical banana is 90-120 calories. Having said that, even though it is fruit, the calories still count, so if you are trying to regulate your caloric intake, eating 10 bananas a day will definitely mess that up.

On top of the calories, keep in mind that bananas still are full of sugar. Fruits are good, but like everything, they have to be eaten in moderation.

I figured I was messing up my daily calorie intake by tearing up those bananas, haha. What I learned from this is that I should REALLY pay attention to the nutrition facts. lesson learned.

Well, with 8-10 fingers on each hand, you may need those extra calories

How fast can you type?

I like bananas. They seem to make a big difference on some of my longer runs. Decent calorie boost and easy on my stomach.

No way I could eat 10 bananas a day though.

Im located in Puerto Rico. As for eating 10 bananas through out the day, i also chop them up and put them in my oatmeal, make a peanut butter banana sandwhich and chop them up with my pancakes. When I say a hand of banana, i mean a "bunch" of bananas, if that makes any sense, haha. I have been doing this for about a month.

Yeah, I'd always thought they were 100 calories each. I love bananas but no way I could eat that many. I'd love to have a tree in the back yard though 🙂

Bananas are pretty high carb and mostly fructose. Not good if you are trying to cut fat.

Not exactly true. Fair amount of fructose, but also equally has other sugars in it as well. Either way, not enough of anything to worry about in small quantities.
