Of course he is not, i agree with you.

What made Apple and Microsoft so great is that they enforced a certain type of standard. That means that almost all applications have a similar look and feel. With android because it is free this is definitely not always the case(especially with apps). There is a lot of fragmentation and this can make customers doubt. That is why Microsoft and Apple came as far as they did. They introduced standards. May not always be the best standards but it was more easier for other people (developers and customers) because they had some foundation to work with, enforced or not. Liking it or not.

Android has standards but each version has different abilities, I can see where marketing hype can create initial sales but if Android (or any other OS) was badly implemented those sales would fall flat as consumers got frustrated with trying to make an expensive phone work, but the huge market gains alone say it works good enough and the "Standards" are good enough. Sure, most people don't want to get into rooting and such but with Android you can monkey around if your so inclined. WM7 (is it Mango?) has gotten good reviews and is probably as good as any other mobile OS out there and would gain market share on it's own, what aggravates me is when MS buys IP rights and winds up bullying android phone makers into licensing agreements to try and kill Android as their lead in the industry is so huge at this point, few manufactures have the financial wherewithal to go toe to toe with the kind of legal team MS can bring to the table, it's close to extortion IMO..

Android requires you to be a computer scientist to use it, huh? Guess my mom didn't get the memo - sometimes, she can't even turn on her computer.

Android's ever increasing marketshare takes his opinion and pretty much shoves it down his throat. I don't even remember the last I took Ballmer seriously. The guy is a joke, if I didn't know any better I'd say he's just trolling.

The minute google enforces a strict policy of turning off your phones due to rooting and detection of invalid aka pirated apps, the android phenomenon would die overnight. What, you don't think being able to dl hundreds or thousands of dollars in free apps and the ability to wirelessly tether (create wireless hot spot) for free forever isn't a major draw? Of course it is. Google will wise up in time but not until they achieve the same level as a Microsoft, who incidentally, only puts on a flimsy mask of righteousness when it comes to pirated copies of Windows, because they want to disseminate it as far and wide as possible and they know piracy ensures this, and the Windows supremacy. Auto desk did the same with 3ds Max. It works.

Once Android becomes a closed system, you'll see use drop off precipitously. And yes, I'm the owner of the HTC Thunderbolt and not an iPhone.

Microsoft had a huge head start with Windows Mobile, but blew it because they thought users just wanted a shrunk desktop OS on their phone. So for them to say one needs to be a CS to use Android is just sour grapes. Android evolved enormously in 3 years. MS got stuck on 10 year old iPaq paradigm and went nowhere.

Hold on, are you suggesting that phone manufacturers policing your phone usage is a good thing?
