It is quite possible you have one of "those" PowerColor 9700's.

According to 3Dmark2003:

VGA Memory Clock 337.5 MHz
VGA Core Clock 351.0 MHz

What are "those" powercolor 9700's that you refer to?

Yep, I gained about 600 points when I did a clean install of everything. All the UT2k3 scores went up about 2 points each as well....woo hoo.

just a question, but isn't that motherboard the VIA chipset based P4 board?
Have you installed the latest VIA 4-in-1 patch? I didn't see that in the order of things
you did when u formatted. :)

Yep, did the new 4-in-1. It's all a moot point I guess, as I'm selling the Radeon.

I would think that the fact that you've had more offers to purchase/trade the card than you have had help on the problem would keep you interested in keeping the card.

Have you tried installing the Sapphire drivers vs the Catalyst drivers? I had a similar problem with performance and TV Out with my MSI GeForce Ti200 128MB card when I tried to use the Detonators, but when I used MSI's drivers, it worked without complaint.

More to the point, have you called their Tech Support number?
http://www.sapphiretech.com/contacts/contact.asp

Also, which version of Windows are you running?

I find it odd that your 3dMark scores are so low, even if it is a synthetic benchmark, as currently ALL of the top 10 people use insanely overclocked P4/AthlonXPs with Radeon 9700 Pros in them. #5 happens to be a Sapphire card as well.

It took me 2 months, 2 motherboards, and 3 Radeons to get it right, but now this 9700 pro ROCKS.

It may seem like a daft idea, but did you set the gfx card drivers to max quality, cos with ATI drivers, it switches on the FSAA & AF as well.
That could drop your score.
Just a thought.

Firstly you may want to run your memory at 166mhz instead of 200; unless things have changed, Tom's Hardware as well as AnandTech's own review show the Soyo motherboard performing much better with DDR333 than with DDR400.

Also, at what speed is your AGP port operating? If it's at AGPx8, switch it to AGPx4 and try benching it.
