I'm about ready to fvckin get rid of this damn thing. How is it two video card manufacturers can have such EXTREME opposites when it comes to drivers??? The Graphics Expression was the last ATI card I owned prior to this 9700 Pro.....I should've kept it that way :disgust::|

That is about what I got with my system, and your CPU is way faster than mine. I think I would've installed DX9 before the catalyst's, but not sure if it makes a huge difference. Run 3Dmark03 for better comparison anyways.

Will do that. Says that I should be getting 15k+ scores with this card....what sort of settings should I have in the control panel? Also, what can I OC it to? I downloaded the Riva Tuner....

Did you reformat Windows before installing the 9700 pro? If not, then either reinstall, or do a thorough registry search for nVidia drivers. ATI cards are very picky about having other drivers in there and this is a common symptom of traces of old drivers being in there.

Did that, found nothing. I'd really REALLY, like to avoid having to do that just for a vid card swap.

What said you should be getting 15K scores? Your score will vary depending on the graphic settings, overclocking the video card memory speed and cpu speed. Move the slider from balanced to high performance and your score should go up.

not that I can tell....And considering I got higher scores on a Ti4200 @ 4400 speeds, I'd like to think that the 9700 would get at least about the same score as that. But when you do a comparison of what I'm getting compared to systems with other vid cards. Madonion gave me a bar graph of average scores based on vid card chipset. Ti4400, 4600, and 9700 series were above my scores. With average 9700 series scores being 46% higher than what I had. Ti4600's were 28% higher. Was a pretty neat little bar graph.

bar graphs are cute aren't they...shame its a bargraph based on a piece of sh!t. Run a game benchmark to be sure you're scores are too low.

wow.. 4419 marks

I get around 4000 and I'm only on a 9500 pro..
But you shouldn't even use 3dmark since it's only a synthetic benchmark. Using a real-world benchmark based on a unreal/quake3 engine to see if your fps are really that low.

Maybe you haven't got enough power supply for the 9700? Just a thought...

I'm scoring a bit over 13,200 in 3dmark 2001 with my 9700 pro, and an XP T-bred 2200+. That's the standard benchmark, and I set my quality settings to "performance", but not the fastest setting.

Just wondering: Do you have all your latest motherboard drivers, bios, etc?

What does Powerstrip (or whatever you use for a vid utility) show your core and memory clocks as ?

It is quite possible you have one of "those" PowerColor 9700's.
