i'm going to go on a limb and take a wild guess as to how the bans happened;

AMDGUY: AMD BEST!

everyone else: actually, no, Intel best.

AMDGUY: AMD BEST! AMD STOMPS!

everyone else: here, have some charts. see the price / efficiency results?

AMD GUY: AMD BEST! AMD NEVER DIED, IT ROSE OUT OF THAT STEEL AND KILLED THE TERMINATORS!

mod: ban

No, it went like this

Person 1: I have a r9 270x and an Athlon. It is quite decent for the money. Only downside is cpu bottlenecks a bit. I wouldve gotten an intel if i had more $$$

person 2: AMD cpus are terrible. My old 6300 bottle neck games in battlefield like crazy. I had gtx 980 gpu

Person 3: get a i5 4460. It is a great budget cpu at $180

Me: OR you can get 6300, an after market cooler, and OC the hell out of it which will then equal i5 for half the price in many mutithreaded modern games. *posted links of an OC 6300 vs i5 4460 youtube video that proves the two have similar performance*

Person 3: AMD can cpu+overclocking mb with a cooler cost 300! My i5 and board cost 250!

Me: not true *show off my rigs, posted links to neweegg for the components which total cost 180 USD*

Person 3: I wouldnt recommend these components even to my worst enemies hahahahhah. besides, no upgrade path

Me: zen comes out next year, we amd user does have upgrade option

Person 2: I7 4790k will kick zen's asses. See you next year so i can laugh at you

argue.... argue... argue, person 2 started to fling insults... argue...argue..argue, mod locked the thread. 10 minutes break..., i log back in... BANNED!!! D:

I used to be a AMD fanboy,

but now I'm happily using a Intel Core i5 in my main PC.

(My backup Linux PC still runs an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T.)

I don't really care about your user name, but I have an evil and childish sense of humor, so I would ban you just so that when people read your screed they can look up and see "banned" under your user name. I mean, that would be funny, right?

Oh, and the same guys who own Tom's Hardware own this place, so next time you flee a battle check the map first.

Gosh, arent you sadistic and evil. I did not have issues with Tom's hardware Admin, just one of the mod. He hates and banned me cuz of my opinion :'(

at this point i would like to add that neither tom's nor linus are "technology" forums. AT, [H], OC are tech forums. those other 2 are boards for kids.

also, i'd like to see these videos of a 6300 beating a 4460, no matter the overclock.

You OK?

Why would you expect ANYBODY on a tech forum to respect your opinion when you use a handle like this?

I think one of the scariest things in the modern world is what happens when the spotlight of anonymous hate is cast upon you, especially in the real world via the media. Look at what happened to Adam Lanza's brother thanks to big news corps like CNN, who reported before verifying. They straight-up ruin people's lives with idiotic moves like that. And beyond the media, it just boils down to people acting like morons. Remember the guy who sold his truck to a local dealership & it ended up getting used by ISIS with his company logo on the side? He's been getting like a hundred angry voicemails & death threats a day because of that, has had his life & business ruined, and is having to sue the car company because of that:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/texas-plumber-i-didnt-sell-my-truck-to-isis/

And even beyond that, it's amazing how we do terrible things IRL to each other. On a tangent, here we are in 2015 & Syria is looking like the post-apocalyptic future in movies, and for what? Because people can be jerks.

I couldn't agree more.

Oh not really, I am just willing to throw anyone under the bus for a good laugh.
Wait, maybe that's the same thing.

great deductive reasoning Sherlock. Anyway, I'll get over it. I never knew forums can be so demeaning but I shouldn't get upset over it, trolls aren't worth my time anyway, not even you :/

Personally I applaud of OP wearing his bias on his sleeve. Cards face up on the table. Usually when it comes to viral marketing they're much more subtle about it.

When you love a product, you love a product. I see no shame in openly enunciating it. Advertisement is different. Instead of openly stating that their product is the best, some company give you this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpH4gUTVG4A
How's that for marketing

Yeah, wearing your bias on your sleeve on an internet forum is a good way to see just how thick your skin is and that's about it. There are plenty of forum goers that are AMD advocates that will make arguments for an AMD CPU when appropriate.

I've done the same myself although nowadays it's pretty darn tough to do so. For reference I've owned both Intel & AMD CPUs; my first CPU was an AMD 486. Keep in mind that if you're going to be a proponent of either platform and somebody questions your numbers you might want to consider having a much better source than some video on youtube. Because around these parts those videos are given about as much credibility as a scientologist trying to perform an audit on a forum goer.

The problem is, you're 19. You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. You just think you do.

there we go again, more tolls. I can understand the anonymous nature of the internet encourages troll comments but I would like to hear you say that to me in front of my face. whatever. i can care less.
