'Bad Boys II' Blows Away Box Office Rivals w/$46.7 million

'Pirates' did pretty well for its second week.

'Finding Nemo' has now made more money then The Matrix Reloaded.

My friend originally said he wasn't going to be home til tomorrow, so we're waiting til then to see it....(he's home now, but I made other plans)

Should be some wholesome action. 🙂

Umm, the industry as well as the studio that produced the movie pegged it at opening between 40 and 50 million. They were dead on, so what's the problem?

When did 46.7 Million in 3 days for an R rated movie become bad!!!

Thats a good bank. Plus word of mouth will get around to how good it is (I've yet to see it, must this week) and It should have a strong 2nd week.

i saw it, and it was okay. not the greatest movie of the summer. and it was too fvcking long and a little over the top with the violence.

I don't really care what the studio pegged it at...compared to some of the other blockbusters this summer 46.7 is pretty low

Not surprising. The fact that Reloaded did so well as an R movie was a fluke(a well-deserved fluke, but a fluke); Nemo is rated G, and should be on top simply because it's at least a good movie, and it's G, so that everyone can see it.

Only films that grossed more it's opening weekend are...

1 Finding Nemo $70.25 m 4.14 05/30/03
2 The Matrix Reloaded $91.77 m 2.98 05/15/03
3 Bruce Almighty $85.73 m 2.72 05/23/03
4 X2: X-Men United $85.56 m 2.50 05/02/03

Bruce Almighty opened on a long weekend so it had extra days = more money.

The Matrix opened on a Thursday, so it too had a long weekend.

Everyone else was under 40 Million other than those 4.

I'd say it keeps pretty good company. The only R rated movie there is Matrix.

Agreed, weak story, and just all over the place. If you want to see some random stuff blow up and have a IQ lower then 80, you will love it. If not move on..

the ending of the movie was just ridiculous, I guess they decided to throw all pretense of reality out the window for the sequel.

Along with those 4, these 2003 movies had better opening weekend numbers than Bad Boys II. 🙂

Hulk - $62,128,420
2 Fast 2 Furious - $50,472,480

Nevertheless, those a great numbers for Bad Boys II - I expected it to be lower since the first one grossed $65,807,024 in it's entire run!

I would consider Pirates of the Carribean to have better numbers than BBII even though technically BBII made more for the weekend, had Pirates opened just for the weekened I bet its numbers would have been higher....

Still BBII was a great flick.

What's with movies lately, Pirates did 132 million in 2 weeks. THAT'S ludicrous. i can remember when anything above 100 million was amazing.

Odd. I checked this Link originally and Hulk nor 2 Fast was listed. Sorry about that. 😀 Guess It's not up to date!

Also, according to this link, Anger Management, Terminator 3, and Daredevil all opened at more than 40 million. 😛

I liked it, but the dialogue sucked.

That "WU-SAHHHH" thing got OLD really fast, but apparently the filmmakers never noticed...

Here's my question: Did they ever explain how the Haitians knew about the shipments/drop-offs? Sure, "Kingpin" Johnny thought that the Bad Boys were amongst the Haitians (and killed Jon Seda as a result), but I don't recall any better explanation.

And where do I get one of those remote-controlled SUVs?
