You need to get to your regular Doc and get an MRI before you think about going to a Chiropractor. If you've got disk damage regular X-ray may not pick it up, didn't in my case, and the bone crusher could cripple you.
If you've got back pain that Vicodin can't take down I don't think an alignment is going to work.

He never got better, finally went to the regular doc and ortho, the ortho tells him he was maybe a week away from a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Two blown disks that the Chiro's X-ray didn't pick up. He had surgery, has three fused verts, and walks with a decided limp.
