Picpop, what are you going to put with the 32X? Somewhere I read you have to have at least double the writer speed for a reader? It seems these will be useless unless somebody comes out with a faster CDROM.

Geez... I wish I didn't check this board today! I have spent way too much money in the past couple of weeks... O well... what's another $85 :)

When the 32X drives do come out they will be like 150 or so. $150 doesn't seem worth the 10 seconds at best you will save by not getting the 24X Liteon.

Dont't forget an important feature of this Lite-On 24102B drive: it supports "Correct EFM encoding of regular bit patterns", which is required to back-up SafeDisc2 protected disks. Not many drives supports it!
I've just got 24102B from Next Hardware Shop and I'm quite happy with it. It replaced a two-year old 8x Plaextor, which I was quite happy with too, but which doesn't support the EFM Encoding thing.
