haha

Yeah, your forgetting the the GTX 580 to 7850 to 7850 Crossfire before the 7970 🙂

I have toyed with cards and my setup a lot... and ive lost some money, im aware. I'm all done with that. My 7870 once arrives will be the keeper... for a couple years anyways.

Quoted for posterity. In 5 weeks when you order another "keeper" video card, I'll be able to reference this post 🙂

My Card is out for delivery Today.

ANYWAYS, just a FYI, its back in stock at the same Deal!

Those who missed, grab one quick!

Funny NE just auto-notified me that it's back in stock (didn't do so when it came back in stock on 9/6). Anyways, my card arrived yesterday, and so far I've been very impressed by its level of performance and efficiency. The fan is audible but far from intrusive, while the card stays cool. It is one huge card, both long and wide. At $200 AR, plus Sleeping Dog (which should be good for at least $20 on ebay), this is a super deal.

Exact same thing.

I missed out on the first deal. Set to Auto Notify, and waited for like 8 days to come back in stock, only to come across the thread at perfect timing. Never got the Auto Notify on 9/6 but did today....

Have you O/C'd yet? I've read these cards can hit 1200+ core quite easily, hoping mine does anyways.

haha wow that sucks.

Must have only had 1-2 cards come in. I'll keep my Auto Notify on and update the thread if it comes back. I'll soon post some results here too. (Hopefully tonight if all goes well)

Wow that was quick. Glad at least one person got it. 🙂

This card rocks in my system, and Sleeping Dogs is one of the best games I've played in a while.

Now posting from a 7870-powered PC! So far I've only played Crysis a few minutes as a test and it's butter-smooth. The card is also very quiet, so far I'm totally happy with it. The Sleeping Dogs coupon activates on Steam, which makes it even better than I realized.

The HIS IceQ 7870 next to my old 8800GTS 512 for scale. This is one bigass card!

The IceQ in my system. Yeah, that's a stock Intel fan on my i5 3450. CPUs are so awesome these days I don't even bother overclocking. I know, I'm an old fogey. 😛

Really wish that case had a Bottom mounted PSU, only reason why didn't get this case. Becomes very difficult to keeps things tidy.

ASIC is 76.9%

Running at 1175/1325 without issue at 1.237v

I can only get to 1200 Core at 1.265v which is a little higher voltage than I want to use. My card o/c's well up to about 1175 with barely any added voltage, after this point it requires lots of juice but power consumption is still low.

This is with limited Heaven, Sleeping Dogs and 3DMARK11 Benchmarking.

3DMARK Score is P7332 @ 1175/1325

COOLER:

So far I'm very impressed with the cooler. I made a custom profile and tried on auto. Both run quiet. On auto, at 1.237v 1175/1325, idles at 26 Degrees and Maxed out during benchmarking at 53 Degrees Celcius, while being quiet. Very impressive. Computer is in a temperature controlled room.

Overall, Very pleased for what you get. I am running this card at 1125/1325 at stock voltage. This is more than enough for me.

I told myself this was going to be my keeper card for a while, and its going to be.

The top-mounted PSU was actually one of the reasons I got the Solo II. The bottom mounted ones make it annoyingly hard to reach the switch on the PSU, though admittedly I don't use it that often.

GTX 660 reviews have started to show up online. A stock-clocked GTX 660 ($230) is about 7% slower than a HD 7870; while overclocked versions ($250-260) matches or just exceeds a stock-clocked 7870 (the prices are MSRP's; street price is unknown since the card has not been released yet). That makes this card a super deal at $200 AR.

I've just installed my card. A very nice upgrade over my old 5770 (which was about to die). Anyway, the card is huge, but I've managed to get it in installed and the improvement was night and day. I do have a few questions/ concerns that I was hoping people can answer for me.

Running synthetic benchmarks (3D Mark 11, vantage and Unigine), my numbers seem to be lower than expected when compared to users under the same conditions. Should I be concerned? Should I RMA the card? I know my cpu is a little on the low end (i5 - 750 @ 3.54ghz) and my hard drive is garbage, but does that have an impact on the numbers? Thanks in advance.

I got P6348 with the card at stock on my i5 3450, so you are beating that at least - but of course you have overclocked your card.

Various online reviews pegs a stock-clocked 7870's 3DMark 11 score to be around 6600-6700's, so your score is in the right neighborhood. I don't think it's worth the hassle and cost of RMA'ing the card hoping you can get a few more points. The next card may be worse, you know. Just enjoy your card--you just scored a hot deal for $200 (was >$350 a few months ago).

That's exactly what you should be getting - not sure where you saw anything higher. Here's some recent data from a few reviews of the 660, which tested the 7870 with the latest drivers:

The hard drive has no effect on 3dMark11, but the CPU definitely does. Any difference between your score and published scores could easily come down to the lack of hyperthreading on your CPU. Your physics score is very low due to your CPU, and that affects the total score. If you're that concerned, compare your Graphics sub-score to other Graphics sub-scores, and ignore the total score.

Play games and enjoy!

Your Graphics score is whats important.

My 3DMARK11 graphics score was just 200 pts higher (Graphic score), but I did mine at 1175/1325

Your card is completely fine, so not sure why you think its low? Stock scores are lower than yours. You are already in GTX 580 performance levels. (Top end card less than 8 months ago @ $450 for $200 AR with much better power, efficiency and tesselation performance)

The P score includes CPU performance, which why is that is lower overall. Just to show how flawed it is, having a chip with Hyperthreading can improve your score by 1500+ points total.... and we all know HT alone doesn't impact gaming much, yet has a huge improvement in 3dmark11. Also 2 of the tests include CPU Physics, which impacts the P score. The i5-750 is going to be weaker here compared to newer CPU's being used in reviews, etc

Pay attention to the graphics score.

Very happy with mine! Running at 1150/1300 no issues at stock voltage. Got it to run 3dmark11 at 1175/1350, but had a few random crashes playing Max Payne. Since I've dropped it down everything has run with no issues for a couple of weeks. Don't remember my exact 3dmark score, but somewhere in the low 7000's running an i5 3570 with mild OC.
