I've always wondered what tourists do here. Seems like kind of a boring place for a vacation, but I guess that's because I live here.

I'd go just to visit you. :lips:

Vancouver was our 2nd fav destination, behind maui. We've been to about 10-15 destinations around the world which isn't much but it being #2 on our list ahead of the caribbeans and asia... it's pretty sweet there.

Cool. In Vancouver, B.C. now. Had sushi just now. Will eat dim sum tomorrow. Yum!

Are you in Vancouver or Richmond?

Vancouver, we just went downtown and stuff. Went to the Costco and took the Sky Train.

Well if you'd like to check out HongKong but can't afford the plane ticket, just take a ride down to Richmond.

I stopped over in Vancouver for 3 days on my way back to Toronto From Taiwan. Mainly slept and ate. Did the aquarium, walked around steamtown and downtown. Mostly sleep to recover from my 1 month long trip to Taiwan really. Passed trough Vancouver many times, that was the only time I stayed there.

Whistler loads of fun. Gonna drive around Downtown, hit up Chinatown and stuff.

Not much in Chinatown, and the place is a ghost town after 5pm. Don't stray too far from Chinatown or you'll end up in the downtown East Side. Unless you want to get accosted by homeless people and junkies, going west of Main and Hastings isn't such a great idea.

Downtown Robson is alright for shopping, or go out to the west end for some good dining options. Smoke a Cuban cigar for all you Americans, or catch a Canucks game. (they play Philly tonight at GM Place).

It's still somewhat snowy and rainy so outdoor options are limited.

Pics of the snow in the city are disgusting! Just got back from my holidays just north of Seattle thinking the snow would be gone. :| There are SUV sized piles of snow in the freakin Mall parking lot!!!! I'd rather have the usual deluge of Rain.

Yeah a thread about my city :)

Like Keith said having lived in this city for so long it seems like a boring city to visit, not a lot of energy / night life, no culture to speak of, no history. But I have to say it's one of the most beautifully scenic cities. You really have to live here for a few years to get a feeling for the way the city looks during each season. Stanley Park, English bay and the north shore each have their own flavour from one season to the next. It's definitely a city to come to if you like nature, food, and sports. There are more hiking trails, restaurants, and sporting goods stores than you could shake a stick at. Personally though I long for a holiday in a less sterile environment. I'd like to return to the Asia of my childhood (spent several years in China and Malaysia). I like the noisy messy culture and history rich atmosphere of the east and that's one thing we are sorely lacking here.

I rather enjoy the snow really. Unlike eastern Canada we rarely get much snow in the winter and what snow we do get is usually gone in a few days. This weeks long dump is something I haven't seen in the 20 years I've been living here.

Our Ancestors worked hard to pile up all that dirt so that we could have snow nearby, but well out of the city! :|

The snow does look nice, but in a city (Vancouver) that's ill equipped to handle it (infrastructure wise) and general population wise, it wreaks havoc. I've probably seen a plow twice in the 3 weeks it's snowed here - and I live on a main street that has probably hundreds of cars passing every hour. Side streets haven't been plowed at all in the 3 weeks and Vancouver drivers seem to either want to drive super slow holding up traffic, or people who think the best way to get a car out of snow is to hit the gas and spin the tires for as long as possible. I've lost count of how many people I've had to dig out of our back lane.

Also, with each snowstorm we get, transit grinds to a halt. That includes Skytrain which theoretically shouldn't be as severely affected by the weather. However, with each snowfall, it's gone down for hours at a time.

Snow is nice...but not when it inconveniences people. Sorry to be Debbie Downer but had to voice my 0.02.

Hope this gets fixed by 2010 Winter Olympics, or we'll have a LOT more stranded people at that time.

Cool pics. Funny that you were here during some of the craziest weather I have ever seen in this town.
