Honestly? I would say that they aren't so much these days. Admittedly I haven't watched 10 minutes total of MSNBC in the past year, but the impression I get is that at least some of them (such as Maddow) believe he hasn't done enough to live up to his promises to the left.

MSNBC is in the tank for hard progressive ideology. When it comes to politics, they always shill for the Democrat and vilify the Republican.

Matthews was trying to corner Bachmann, trying to set her up for a soundbyte they would use to drive their ratings for as long as they could. Matthews had a game plan ready for no matter how she attempted to answer his question. So she smartly decided not to play his game. And of course Matthews was prepared for that possibility too, and that's how the exchange went.

Bottom line, Matthews was a total jackass there. End of story.

Bachmann in clip: "If we take the House, I support executing all Democrats"

Matthews: "Now that you won the House, do you stand by your statement?"

Bachmann: "I'm pro-motherhood. Puppies are cute!"

Matthews: "You didn't answer my question"

Cubby: "Matthews is just trying to corner Bachmann, the evil bastard. End of story."

I'll take a page from the Craig playbook. The difference between you and I is that I analyze each situation individually and decide on what is most rational towards everyone involved. I do not look to ideology, I do not look to propaganda. I look to logic and reasoning to form all my opinions. You on the other hand, are brainwashed by progressive propaganda. You believe all Republicans are inherently evil, and anything and everything that can be done to marginalize them is justified.

Matthews is a jackass. He obtained his soundbyte two years ago, and he will do what he can to make that the defining statement of Bachmann, regardless of its truth.

What, you said yourself in a post yesterday that you don't give a shit what politicians say, you only care what they do. Of course you only said that because it conveniently fit your ideology to say that in that particular situation. But when the situation is different, and now the opposite best fits your overall ideology...

Oh there has got to be some way to force you to grow up :p

Check out this quote:

Well, I admit I tend to be a bit literal about such things with a distaste for hyperbole. It's the most harmful thing since nuclear weapons.

Do you honestly believe anyone takes you seriously?

MN thanks all the dumb liberals who plowed money into Tarrel Clarks campaign thinking she had a chance only to lose by 12 points. Thanks for the stimulus.

I don't understand how you could defend someone like Bachmann.
The woman is almost certainly lives in some other reality, I also don't understand how Minnesotans can keep electing her.

I voted for her 2 days ago.

This is what I said to myself (and others): "She is our version of ahmajabidbaud from Iran, and she is good comedy. She has my vote."

Really? That's what you call a public servant not answering questions, 'not playing the game'? You may not like Matthews' style, but not only Bachmann but none of the Republicans they asked would say exactly what they would cut. It was just mindblowing to watch. That representative from TN that was talking generically about cutting 'discretionary spending' was asked if defense spending was discretionary of course she said no, but who says we have to spend as much as we do on defense? Sounds to me that it is up to someone (Congress's) 'discretion'. Is there some kind of law somewhere that says defense spending can never be reduced and can only increase?

I voted for her a few days ago...best vote choice on my ballot.

Why? Even though she occasionally has some stupid soundbites, her voting record and the majority of her comments support LIMITED government.

In a state like MN...this is not easy to find. More importantly, Tarryl Clark is liberal...even for this state. If the Dems had come up with a moderate candidate, it would have been a closer race.

EDIT: In the OP clip, Matthews was trying to get her to answer a question about revenge and retribution on Democrats...what a joke. I guarantee he didn't ask this question two years ago to any Dem. The end.

I have no clue who Bachmann is or what she has said in the past, but Matthews was just trying to bait Bachmann with his questions and comments and she deflected by going over talking points

LOL...obviously you don't live in it. It includes Saint Cloud, a major college town which isn't exactly a hotbed of right wing extremism... :) So are the 40% who voted for Tarryl Clark misguided Rednecks then? LOL

Also...if you think MN6 is redneck...what about Oberstar's district of northern MN (MN8) on the Iron Range? They had sent him to Congress for 18 straight terms...but finally wised up and retired him.

Look how counties like Stearns and Anoka vote; you'll find your answer there.

I just need to understand your logic...

Suburban people who vote conversative are rednecks.
Rural people who vote conversative are rednecks.

Rural people who vote liberal are NOT redneck? Like in Oberstar's history.

LOL...

Anoka and Stearns are pretty blue. However, places like Benton county (where I live) is pretty redneck, I admit. ;)

Chris Matthews, Mike Wallace and Chris Wallace are all tough, attack dog interviewers. That's their style and it always has been. But all are prepared and don't ask unfair questions. There is a place for interviewers like that, although I generally don't like the style but it serves a purpose-exposing people like Bachmann.

If you want powderpuff interviews, stick with people like Larry King.

Matthews and both Wallaces are greatly preferable to boorish bullies like Bill "Shut Up" O'Reilly. Imus and Howard Stern frequently fall into that category as well.
