Rooted it and installed Trook. I get RSS feeds now from the NYT, Washington Post and some other newspapers. The only way I could see it being useful is if you do newpaper subscriptions on it.
I didn't bother with the accidental damage coverage or extended warranty. These things are cheap enough that you'd probably be able to buy one at a much lower cost by the time it's stopped working from being worn out (back / forward buttons, etc.).Thinking of getting one of these since my birthday is coming up next month. How has it performed for people also did you guys/gals get it with the 2 year plan?(accidental etc)
for the price it can't be beat right now.
Is the Nook's screen really only 3.5" wide? That's ridiculously tiny if so.
3.5in wide, 6in by standard measurement. Same size as the Kindle. Its plenty large enough for reading a book, its primary purpose.
Meh, I'll hold out for Nook 27. Looking around, I'd like it to be about the size of this cereal box. 10.75 by 7.5 inches. As it is now it's little bigger than my Pocket Ref, and I can't imagine taking that into bed to read.

I pay $5-$15 for ebooks, and that's fine because I really love instant delivery and the nook is a fantastic reader. BUT, big fucking "but" here, most ebooks I've read have an inexcusable number of typos and errors. Hell, a couple have even had entire sections of the book missing. Figuring it might be my nook and redownloaded them to my PC and the errors are still there. Do they even proofread this shit? It's obnoxious that you pay this much for this type of product and the quality is this poor compared to the more traditional editions.
Right now I'm fuming at B&N and trying to get them to realize that there's a big problem. If this type of thing bothers you, and it should if you own a nook or Kindle, let them know about it.
