but sadly we do have a lot of idiots willing to protest any notion of developing energy production alternatives in California.

Of course you guys are talking out of your ass. California has streamlined licensing procedures after the failed deregulation attempt. Here is a link to a list of projects filed with the state since 1996:

I think solar is going to take off in CA big time, hopefully will offset the need to import energy from those AZ losers who have just demonstrated they aren't reliable suppliers by politicizing power delivery.

I am not for official boycotts, however LA should not be doing business with AZ companies if CA companies can do the job. That said, those AZ plants are co-owned by LADWP. He who pays the piper calls the tune.

LOL. Even the response is idiotic. By that logic, since CA essentially owns a small percentage of the power generating facilities it's OK to do business with them? So if a company is based in AZ and is 1% is owned by a CA shareholder it's not part of the boycott? Stupidity on the CA side continues. It's funny to watch these morons participate in a battle of wits when they are clearly unarmed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
General Manager's Statement Regarding
LADWP Power Generation Assets in Arizona

"I want to make clear that we support the City position regarding the recent law enacted in Arizona and the resolution adopted by the Los Angeles City Council.

On any given day, we receive 20 – 25% of our power from two power plants located in Arizona: Navajo, a coal-fired plant, and Palo Verde, a nuclear plant.

We are part owner of both power plants, which are generating assets of the Department. As such, nothing in the City’s resolution is inconsistent with our continuing to receive power from those LADWP-owned assets.

I might add that, as the City’s Job Czar, I certainly would welcome any conventions or meetings that were going to be held in Arizona to come to Los Angeles. We have fantastic facilities and incomparable weather and we’d welcome them to the City of Angels."

- Austin Beutner, General Manager, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
Let's check out the ownership of the two facilities in question -

SRP is two entities: the Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District, a political subdivision of the state of Arizona; and the Salt River Valley Water Users' Association, a private corporation.

Navajo Generating Station Participant Summary :

U.S. Bureau of Reclamation 24.3%
SRP 21.7%
Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power 21.2%
Arizona Public Service Co. 14.0%
Nevada Power 11.3%
Tucson Electric Power 7.5%

Palo Verde Nuclear Generation Station Ownership Summary:

APS 29.1%
SRP 17.5%
El Paso Electric Co. 15.8%
Southern California Edison 15.8%
Public Service Co. of New Mexico 10.2%
Southern California Public Power Authority 5.9%
Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power 5.7%

Just conjecturing here, but LAW&P is definitely a minority partner and it is conceivable that the majority shareholders could vote to cut them out. Lots of breach of contract issues with that, of course, but equally problematic are political boycotts with economic consequences to targeted States.

It has been said before. Obama, through both action and inaction, is on track to be one of this country's most divisive Presidents ever. In this case, the lack of interest by the Obama Administration in securing the nation's borders, along with ambivalence about the crime problem inherent with illegals roaming the Southwest and elsewhere around the country, is polarizing.

Watching the testimony of Administration Cabinet Secretaries, I am coming to the conclusion that at least a few of them want to address the problem forthrightly, but they are following the Obama policy of playing ostrich.

For people like Holder and Neapolitano to go before Congress and testify against a ten page Arizona bill they have not bothered to read is a further demonstration that all they can offer is a regurgitation of Presidentially mandated talking points, not a commitment to enforce the laws of the land.

the problem w/ CA are their people. please leave the union. CA's weak letter written by their "job czar" is a joke. CA owns a small minority of Palo Verde, big deal, i am sure those companies could easily be bought out if necessary but they still don't even have near a majority. being they are CA companies and more than likely corrupt, i am sure a few paid for strip club trips for them would change their mind :D

fuck CA, fuck pelosi, fuck obama and fuck calderon
